The movie “Black Mass” starring Johnny Depp will be filming in the North End on May 29th from 10am – 9pm around the Margaret Street area. The street will be closed for the day and be transformed into a 1970′s period set, including swapping out the street light to the old sodium vapor lamps. The set is also looking to move the sacred planters on the sidewalk.

Johnny Depp is a man of many faces, costumes, hairdos and appearances, obviously. His visages basically fall into two camps 1) looking like Johnny Depp’s “movie guy lead character” (i.e. that sort of generic look from “Transcendence” with those same round glasses he uses in so many of his “normal” roles) and 2) his wild and wacky transformations. But in this first look from his upcoming action comedy “Mortdecai,” well, maybe that appearance splits the difference.

Scott Cooper of “Crazy Heart” fame will direct the Cross Creek Pictures production.

In the sci-fi thriller Transcendence, which opens this weekend, Johnny Depp spends the majority of his time onscreen inside a computer. (It’s a long story, but basically he is inside a computer.) Though we get to see a digitized version of him, it’s not the same thing. When you see a Johnny Depp movie, you’re partly paying to see what his face and hair look like. From 1990’s Cry-Baby through last year’s The Lone Ranger, something is always going on with his head. So we wanted to test how familiar you are with the comings and goings of Johnny Depp’s follicles. In Vulture’s Johnny Depp Movie-Hair Quiz, you’ll be shown fifteen haircuts and you have to pick which movie it’s from. Luckily, right or wrong, you’ll get to see that handsome mug of his. Good luck!
