About the Film
Brash podcaster Wallace Bryton travels to Canada to interview an internet oddity, only for the story to fall through. Desperate for material, he answers a handwritten notice from Howard Howe, a wheelchair-bound old seafarer promising a lifetime of tall tales in exchange for company at his remote mansion.
What begins as an eccentric evening curdles into a nightmare: Howe drugs Wallace and, obsessed with a walrus that once saved his life, begins surgically transforming his captive into the creature. As Wallace’s girlfriend and best friend fly north to find him, they enlist the eccentric ex-cop Guy Lapointe to track down the deranged “walrus” killer. Kevin Smith’s body-horror comedy is as grotesque as it is bizarre.

Johnny Depp
Johnny Depp appears (originally uncredited) as Guy Lapointe, a shambling, half-mad former Québécois detective on the trail of the walrus killer. Buried under heavy prosthetics and armed with a thick French-Canadian accent and a drooping moustache, Depp plays the role as pure, improvisatory comic grotesque — a scene-stealing oddball he later reprised in Kevin Smith’s Yoga Hosers.
