Pirates of the Caribbean 3 – At World’s End
About the Film
With Lord Cutler Beckett wielding the heart of Davy Jones to hunt pirates to extinction, the surviving crew make a desperate gamble: they must sail off the edge of the map to Davy Jones’s Locker and bring Captain Jack Sparrow back from the dead. Guided by the resurrected Barbossa and the enigmatic Tia Dalma, and forced into an uneasy alliance with the treacherous pirate lord Sao Feng, they cross into the world of the dead to retrieve him.
Back among the living, the nine Pirate Lords of the Brethren Court gather at Shipwreck Cove to decide whether to fight or hide. When Elizabeth is named Pirate King, the freed sea-goddess Calypso unleashes a titanic maelstrom for the final battle against Beckett’s armada. Amid the storm Will Turner is mortally wounded and takes Jones’s place as captain of the Flying Dutchman, bound to ferry lost souls — a bittersweet victory that ends the trilogy and sets Jack sailing off in search of the next adventure.

Johnny Depp
Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow spends the film’s opening trapped in Davy Jones’s Locker, splintered into a crew of bickering copies of himself in a surreal, purgatorial limbo — a chance for Depp to play the character at his most gleefully unhinged. Once rescued, Jack is as slippery as ever, playing every faction against the others in pursuit of immortality while still, in his own crooked way, doing the right thing when it counts.
