Johnny: “I don’t watch my films”

General by Martina

Starpulse News Blog

Johnny Depp: “I don’t watch my films. Last year in France Ed Wood came on television and it was dubbed in French and it was so surreal. So I watched about 10 minutes of it and that’s all. Then another time Gilbert Grape came on. I saw the opening credits and then the opening scene – and then I started to hyperventilate and I just shut the TV off and walked away. I figured that once I’m wrapped on a film, once my job is done, then anything beyond that is none of my business.”

You can buy Johnny’s Sterling Silver Bracelet & Help Children’s Hospice

Appearances by Martina

When Johnny was immortalized for all time last September at the Hollywood Walk of Fame at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard by placing his hands and feet in wet cement he wore a very special bracelet that day. It belonged to a young boy, Dustin, who was dying of cancer but who had dreams of becoming an actor. Through the Children’s Hospice and Palliative Care Coalition, he met Screen Actors Guild Director and actress Melissa Gilbert who gave Dustin an honorary SAG card 2 weeks before he died.

“I am honored to be associated with brave little Dustin by wearing this bracelet,” Depp commented shortly after the ceremony.

Gilbert says, “Now, as a member of the Board of Directors and spokesperson on behalf of this incredible organization, I have taken on the charge of getting the Children’s Hospice bracelets on the wrists of my celebrity friends… and YOU. 100% of the proceeds go directly to Children’s Hospice, so by buying a bracelet you are making an immediate and tangible difference.”

To order a sterling silver bracelet just like Dustin’s and Johnny’s or to read more of Johnny’s comments about Dustin please follow this link.

Libertine Article in January Vogue U.S. Edition

Uncategorized by Martina

The January 2006 issue of Vogue Magazine ( U.S. ed.) has a full page review of Johnny’s new movie that everyone is talking about The Libertine. (Sienna Miller is on the cover of the January issue and the Libertine article is on page 80.) Here is a short excerpt from the article:

“What saves this from being a grim morality play is Depp, a dazzling chameleon whose sole flaw is that he hides himself so far inside his characters that we don’t feel the humanity within. Wilmot’s cynical detachment clearly speaks to something deep in this superb actor, inspiring his most expansive work since his larky turn as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean. With his long, wavy tresses and frilly garb, Depp’s Wilmot may look every inch a man of the past, but his disillusionment feels utterly modern. He’s a Restoration pop idol bored with his own power to thrill.”

Johnny’s wishes for 2006

Uncategorized by Martina

LOS ANGELES — IN THE FLURRY of press cons crammed into our schedule before the holidays began, our group asked several stars what their hopes and wishes are for 2006. Most of them gave profound answers, especially Johnny Depp who just keeps impressing us (although he does not try to) with the views that he expresses in our conversations with him. This man is a beautiful soul. – by Ruben V. Nepales for the December 23, 2005 issue of the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Johnny Depp: “I hope for all of us, dwellers of this planet, to attempt to work things out first before we start lighting cars and buildings on fire and hurting other people. Let us all talk first. We have the beautiful ability to speak but we are losing the ability to understand and compromise. That’s disheartening. The only thing to do is keep moving forward and hope that we can all get it together. Well, not to sound like a hippie or a moonie but that’s how I feel.”

General by Martina

IMDB.com – The Movie database IMDb.com has just released their top 25 mega-stars for the year 2005. The STARmeter rankings are based on the actual search behavior of over 30 million users of the database.

Johnny is at the top of the list…

1. Johnny Depp (Last year 2004: #1)
The hits keep on coming for Mr. Depp, the IMDb’s favorite for the second year in a row. Starting out the year with an Oscar nomination for Finding Neverland, Depp wowed everyone with his, um, idiosyncratic interpretation of Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, lent his voice to another Tim Burton flick, Corpse Bride, and started filming on back-to-back sequels for Pirates of the Caribbean.
