The 63rd Annual Golden Globe Awards will be presented Live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Monday January 16, 2006 at 8:00 pm EST on NBC network. Johnny Depp has been nominated for a Golden Globe in the category of Best Actor in a Musical/Comedyfor his delicious role as chocolatier Willy Wonka in Charlie And The Chocolate Factory. Other nominees are Pierce Brosnan for The Matador, Jeff Daniels for The Squid And The Whale, Nathan Lane for The Producers, Cillian Murphy for Breakfast On Pluto, and Joaquin Phoenix for his role as Johnny Cash in Walk The Line.

Dead Man’s Chest Film Update

Jerry Bruckheimer, producer of Pirates of the Caribbean recently gave Edward Douglas of Comingsoon.net a short update on how filming was going on the POTC sequels. Here’s what Bruckheimer had to say: “We started filming yesterday in the Carribean, we’re in the Bahamas. We’re finishing 2 and then doing 3. I think we have about five or six more days left on ‘Pirates 2,’ and then we’re done with it. We’ll break in March and edit 2, and then go back at the end of the summer and finish 3.”

People’s Choice Award Goes to Johnny!

In a truly exciting moment for Depp fans, last night Johnny was once again crowned the People’s Choice Award as Favorite Male Movie Star for the second year in a row. Robust cheering and clapping in the Shrine Auditorium welcomed Johnny’s acceptance speech via satellite transmission. Depp began his speech with light, witty chatter. “I’m on a distant tropical location shooting 23, 23 1/2 hours a day, surrounded by wild animals and studio executives.”

Johnny then thanked his adoring fans. “We’re all very, very lucky to have such great bosses, which is you, the people. So…I’ll just say thanks again to the people and to my family, who are in fact, people, too. …I may weep, I may break into song; I don’t know what’s gonna happen. But you’ve made me very, very proud, so thank you, thank you very, very, much! Take care!”

Charlie wins People’s Choice Award!

CNN.com – Congratulations to all the cast and crew of CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, which won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Family Movie presented last night at the Shrine Auditorium and broadcast live on CBS. CHARLIE beat out other little tyke’s favorites Chicken Little and Madagascar. The three films were determined by editors at Entertainment Weekly, the People’s Choice production team and a panel of pop culture fans. Winners were chosen by the public voting via the Internet.

Congratulations to Tim Burton, Johnny, Freddie Highmore, and all the cast and crew of CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY on this well -deserved award.

Exclusive: Tim Burton & Johnny Depp Team For ‘Sweeney Todd’

According to anonymous sources, director Tim Burton and actor Johnny Depp, who together have worked on five major motion pictures will team once more for the upcoming movie musical adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s ‘Sweeney Todd.’

‘Sweeney Todd’ first opened on Broadway in 1979 and is currently on Broadway in its second revival. Depp will portray title character Sweeney Todd – the demon barber of Fleet Street – who slits the throats of his innocent (and not-so-innocent) customers.

An official announcement is expected in the coming weeks.

‘The Corpse Bride’ Announced For January DVD Release

Toonzone.com – by Birdboy – Warner Bros. Home Video has officially announced Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride for a January 31st release. Both full and wide screen versions are planned in a single-disc release. The manufacture’s suggested retail price is $28.98.

Synopsis: Set in a 19th century European village, this stop-motion, animated feature follows the story of Victor (voiced by Johnny Depp), a young man who is whisked away to the underworld and wed to a mysterious Corpse Bride, while his real bride, Victoria, waits bereft in the land of the living. Though life in the Land of the Dead proves to be a lot more colorful than his strict Victorian upbringing, Victor learns that there is nothing in this world, or the next, that can keep him away from his one true love.
