About the Film

This action-comedy reboots the 1980s TV series as a raunchy buddy movie. Two underachieving young cops, Schmidt and Jenko, are assigned to the revived Jump Street program and sent undercover into a high school to bring down a synthetic-drug ring — only to find the social order has changed completely since their own school days.

Amid the mayhem, the film delivers a gift to fans of the original series: a cameo by Johnny Depp reprising his career-making role of Tom Hanson, alongside Peter DeLuise as Doug Penhall, both undercover as long-haired bikers.

Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp makes a surprise cameo reprising Officer Tom Hanson — the role that made him famous on the original TV series — heavily disguised as a bearded biker working deep undercover, appearing alongside his old co-star Peter DeLuise as Penhall. It is a knowing wink to long-time fans that pays off the film’s connection to the show.
