Johnny Nominated for Golden Globe!

The announcements for this years nominees for the 63rd Golden Globe Awards were made from the Beverly Hills Suite at the Beverly Hilton by Kate Beckinsale, Steve Carell and Mark Wahlberg at a press conference on December 13, 2005.

Johnny Depp was nominated in the category of BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE -MUSICAL OR COMEDY for his delightfully yummy role in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Other nominees are Pierce Brosnan (The Matador), Jeff Daniels (The Squid and the Whale), Nathan Lane (The Producers), Cillian Murphy (Breakfast on Pluto) and Joaquin Phoenix for (Walk the Line.)

People Magazine has put out a special issue of it’s popular celebrity gossip magazine called Celebrating 20 Years of Sexiest Man Alive. The cover features gorgeous pics of Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, Denzel Washington and George Clooney all of whom have been Sexiest Man Alive recipients. Inside, Johnny has a full six pages with a small article and 4 pages of photos. The magazine sells for $10.99 in the US and $15.99 in Canada. The magazine will be displayed in newstands and shops until 3/06/2006.

“Wonka’s Welcome Song” written especially for Tim Burton’s delicious eye-popping, lip-smacking good film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; has just been nominated by the 48th Annual Grammy Awards for: Best Song Written for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media by the Recording Academy. The songwriters of this delightful composition are Danny Elfman and John August. The awards presentation will be held on February 8, 2006 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. CBS will broadcast the event starting at 8:00 p.m.(ET/PT).

Pirates Of The Caribbean Opens July 7 In U.S.

The much loved Captain Jack Sparrow is set to return next year in the sequel to smash sea faring adventure Pirates of the Caribbean.

Once again thrown into the world of the supernatural, Sparrow (Johnny Depp) finds out that he owes a blood debt to the legendary Davey Jones, Captain of the ghostly Flying Dutchman.

With time running out, Jack must find a way out of his debt or else be doomed to eternal damnation and servitude in the afterlife. And as if this weren’t enough, the Captain’s problems manage to wreck the wedding plans of a certain Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), who are forced to join Jack on yet another misadventure.

‘Pirates 3’ full title revealed

Digital Spy.com revealed Friday the film title to the second sequel to Pirates of the Caribbean blockbuster which reunites stars Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley with more swashbuckling high-sea adventures. Reporter Daniel Saney, says that according to the industry magazine Below The Line, the third movie will be called Pirates of the Caribbean: Uncharted Waters.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest
, the first sequel will be released in July of 2006, with the second sequel, Uncharted Waters, the following year in 2007.

Johnny attends Marilyn Manson Wedding – ???

According to DotMusic.com, Johnny was among the guests at the wedding of Marilyn Manson to burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese at Castle Gurteen in County Tipperary, Ireland last Saturday. The secret ceremony is rumored to have cost around $500,000 and was attended by a host of famous people including Madonna, Lisa Marie Presley, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Manson’s band the Spooky Kids.

2005 ANNIE AWARD NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED

ASIFA-Hollywood – The nominations for the 33rd Annual Annie Awards have just been announced and feature the year’s finest animation in film, television, short subjects and gaming.

Corpse Bride is up for Best Animated Feature. Also nominated this year is Carlos Grangel who created Victor Van Vort, for Best Character Design in Animated Feature. Both Tim Burton and Mike Johnson are nominated for Best Direction of an Animated Feature.

It was already announced that Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride has won the prestigious juried award, the Ub Iwerks Award, honoring excellence in technical achievement.

The Annie awards will be presented at Alex Theatre, the former Alexander Theatre, a Vaudeville and motion picture house featuring Greek and Egyptian motifs which opened in 1925.
