movie composer Danny Elfman recently chatted about the possibility of including Robert Cobert’s original theme tune from the series. It was previously reported that the piece would feature, but Elfman was unsure if it would feature in the new score.

Don’t bother telling Johnny Depp that he was named the most popular actor of 2011 by the Harris Interactive Poll (beating out Denzel Washington and John Wayne). And its better left unsaid that he was the highest paid actor for 2010 with an income of $75 million, and, publease don’t make Johnny squirm by reminding him that he was twice named the Sexiest Actor Alive (2003 and 2009) by People magazine. He’s just not into the accolades; Johnny Depp is more interested in going deep, looking for the next role to play…characters with intensity, idiosyncrasies and often a bit of a dark side. He sheepishly confessed to CNN’s Larry King that before his billion-dollar blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) and its three sequels that he had been known in the confines of Hollywood as “box office poison.” “Yeah, I built a career on 20 years of failures” he proclaimed. That may be overstating things a bit, Johnny. True, Depp has gravitated to roles of off kilter, quirky characters. But while not all his films may have been commercial successes, most were critically acclaimed and firmly established Depp as an artist who cares passionately about his craft, his relationships and his causes.

The Golden Globe Awards will be broadcast live on NBC on Sunday night, January 15, 2012, at 8 p.m. Eastern time (5 p.m. Pacific).
Martin Scorsese’s Hugo, produced by Johnny Depp’s Infinitum Nihil and GK Films, received a stunning 11 nominations from the Broadcast Film Critics Association for their 17th annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards.
Gore Verbinski’s Rango, for which Johnny Depp voiced the title character, was nominated for Best Animated Feature.
The 2012 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at the Hollywood Paladium, and will be broadcast live on VH1 at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
Congratulations to Gore Verbinski and the talented artists who created Rango, which was honored today with nine nominations for the Annie Awards. Presented by the International Animated Film Society, the Annies are considered to be the highest honor bestowed on animated film. Rango was nominated as Best Animated Feature, and Gore Verbinski for Directing in a Feature Production.
Congratulations also go to Branko Grujcic, who has been nominated for Animated Effects in a Live Action Production for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
Winners of the Annie Awards will be announced in a ceremony at UCLA’s Royce Hall on Saturday, February 4, 2012. Good luck to all the nominees!

In an early alert to retailers Sony has made public their plans to bring the 2011 Bruce Robinson directed film “The Rum Diary” starring Johnny Depp and Aaron Eckhart to Blu-ray Disc on February 14th, 2011. For those who don’t know, the film is based on the debut novel by the late writer Hunter S. Thompson. Tech specs and bonus materials for the release have yet to be detailed but stay tuned.
