Johnny attended the Spike TV Scream Awards in Los Angeles last evening.
He accepted the Most Anticipated Sci-Fi Movie award and presented Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards with the Rock Immortal award.
The Scream Awards will air on October 27th.

Sweeney Todd has picked up five nominations at the 2009 Empire Awards.
Tim Burton’s adaptation of the hit stage musical, which casts Johnny Depp as the titular Fleet Street barber, has been recognised in the best actor (for Depp), actress (Helena Bonham Carter) director, soundtrack and horror categories.
The Jameson Empire Awards 2009, to be hosted by Dara O’Briain, takes place on Sunday, March 29 at London?s Grosvenor House Hotel.
No,no,no…no need to worry. Johnny isn’t anywhere near the category “worst”. He was chosen by E! Online as the hottest presenter…and we fully agree of course!!He was short,spoke with what it seemed to be a ‘Dillinger’ accent, but Johnny was intense!

Hottest Presenter: We’re going with Johnny Depp, because he seemed like he just woke up from some sexy dream, and because Glenn Close looked like an excited schoolgirl when he came onstage. Trust us, it ain’t easy to get Close to squeal.
Johnny looked dapper and of course handsome as ever. He spoke in his soft voice (a bit raspy as if maybe he is fighting a small cold).Of course clearly nervous like always.He was wearing a black on white tux with no tie. The boots were put away for the evening as he wore nice black shoes to match. His hair was still a bit short in the back and has grown a bit longer in the front (almost down to his jaw line). He didn?t have his glasses on but sported his facial hair that has grown back completely. His sleeves long and neat mostly covered whatever jewelry he may have worn.
He walked up and announced,

He read the names,

and that was it.
It was wonderful to see you Johnny, even though we know you could do without the nerve-wracking experience and that you do it for us?.Thank you Johnny.
It has been confirmed, that Johnny – as one of the Golden Globe winners from last year – will be one of the presenters at this year’s Golden Globes.
The winners of the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards will be announced on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at The Beverly Hilton with a live telecast airing on NBC at 8 – 11 p.m (EST).
Mr. Depp now claims the top spot on the IMDb’s STARmeter for the fifth year in a row — even though his biggest appearances of the year were on the red carpet of the Oscars (where he was nominated for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street) and at the MTV Movie Awards, where he snagged trophies for both Sweeney Todd and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. The other nominated soundtracks are from American Gangster,Mamma Mia!, Juno and August Rush.
The awards show will be held on February 8, 2009 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.Keeping fingers crossed for another bloody award!
Congratulations to our dear Johnny for winning the award for BEST ACTOR IN A HORROR MOVIE and for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street which won the award for BEST HORROR MOVIE. Unfortunately, Johnny didn’t attend the show to pick his award. Also Tim Burton received the SCREAM IMMORTAL Award for his remarkably unique interpretation of horror and fantasy.He had a big arrival…and when I say big, I really mean BIG, arriving on stage in a balloon!!

Johnny received the George Melies award in 2007 for “Simply the Best” (for life). His bandmate and friend Bill “Beano” Hanti accepted the awards for Johnny and promised to give the awards to him at this year’s Sheila Witkin Concert/Event.
Georges Melies is also connected to Johnny in the book that Johnny’s optioned called The Invention of Hugo Cabret?
Melies is well revered as a film maker pioneer. His is the creator of the trip of the Moon film from 1902 and was a great influence on the silent film era which we know that Johnny is so fond of.
