About the Film

In a hazy, apocalyptic near-future London, the beautiful and clairvoyant Nicola Six has always known exactly how she will die: she will be murdered, on her upcoming birthday, by one of the men she is about to meet. Rather than flee her fate, she sets out to orchestrate it, seducing and manipulating three very different men to discover which of them will become her killer.

Caught in her web are Samson Young, a terminally ill American writer desperate for a final story; Keith Talent, a vicious small-time crook and darts obsessive; and Guy Clinch, a wealthy, naive gentleman. As Samson narrates the deadly love triangle he is documenting, the film spirals toward the murder Nicola foresaw. Adapted from Martin Amis’s cult novel, it features Johnny Depp in an uncredited cameo as the underworld heavy Chick Purchase.

Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp makes an uncredited cameo as Chick Purchase, a menacing London underworld figure and rival to Keith Talent. Decked out in a bowler hat, tinted glasses and a facial scar, Depp brings a flash of stylised villainy to his handful of scenes — a small but memorable turn in the film’s grimy criminal milieu.
