He’s the kindest, most loving man ever. There’s nobody like him, because nobody can be that fabulous.

Johnny is such a gentleman, and he’s so funny. He has a really British sense of humor. He’s like a European in an American skin. And he’s ridiculously gorgeous. It’s preposterous, actually, I would say to him, ‘Do you drink alcohol?’ and he’d say, ‘Yeah,’ and look at me like I had six heads. And I’d say, Your skin!’ He has incredible skin!

I mean, obviously he’s devastatingly handsome which is just shocking and so annoying. Because, you know, he’s in his early forties now, and he looks like he’s 30. But he’s a lovely, lovely guy.

He is the shyest person I ever met. The moment the camera is [turned] on, these characters that are within him come out and take control. Then when the director yells, ‘Cut!’ he goes back to being quiet. Very Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Heath was determined to be his own man, despite his success. Johnny Depp was someone he really admired. I introduced them at the Toronto Film Festival. Johnny has a good sense of competition. Right from the start, he was just, like, “oh, this guy‚ watch out!”
