Studio Where ‘Pirates’ Sequels Filmed Being Sued

General by Martina

Local10.com MIAMI — A Bahamian movie studio where parts of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” sequels were filmed has been sued because the company allegedly failed to make lease payments for the land it operates on.

Miami-based Gold Rock Creek Enterprises Ltd. was sued in Miami-Dade County Circuit Court by The Bahamas Films Studios Inc.

“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” were both filmed on the 3,500-acre property near Freeport, Michael Singer, a publicist for the movies, said Tuesday.

‘Pirates 3’: Keith Richards Rolls In

Uncategorized by Martina

FOX NEWS.COM Roger Friedman Reports:
A not terribly sober Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones has filmed his cameo as Johnny Depp’s swashbuckling dad in “Pirates of the Caribbean 3.”

Richards, no stranger to substances and liquids, was left to his own devices in his trailer before his big scene. That wasn’t a good idea. When the time came to shoot, he was a bit wobbly. “If you’d wanted straight, then you got the wrong man," Richards replied huskily. To keep him straight, director Gore Verbinski held Richards by the shins.

Richards’ pirate costume, sources say, closely resembles Depp’s, with a different colored bandana. The two had such a good time together that Depp kept a souvenir from Richards’ short visit: a set of stairs built for Richards to get in and out of his trailer, which he signed to Depp with the salutation, “A step too far.”

Stuff.co.nz: LOS ANGELES: Thanks to a record-setting opening in Italy, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest returned to the No. 1 spot at the international box office, a week after Cars ended its nine-week reign.

An estimated weekend haul of $USUS16.5 million from 42 territories drove Disney’s swashbuckler to $USUS612.5 million overseas, ranking fifth among only six films ever to have crossed the $USUS600 million gross mark internationally. Its global box office tally stands at an estimated $USUS1.03 billion.

It was the sensational bow in Italy that powered this weekend. Dead Man’s Chest made off with a mighty $USUS12.8 million, an industry record.

Depp to star in and produce “Rex Mundi”

Projects by Martina

LA TIMES:
Indiana Jones, meet Jack Sparrow
by Jay A. Fernandez.

Jim Uhls, who successfully adapted the “unadaptable” Chuck Palahniuk novel “Fight Club,” has been hired to turn “Rex Mundi,” a series of graphic novels by Arvid Nelson and Eric Johnson, into a feature for Johnny Depp to star in and produce through his Infinitum Nihil (Infinite Nothing) production company.

“Rex Mundi” (King of the World) posits an alternate present of 1933 in which the Reformation never happened, the Inquisition is still in full swing, Europe remains dominated by the Catholic Church and the rest of the world consists of colonies. Depp will play a pathologist investigating the mysterious death of the priest who found him as an orphan.

“It’s a noir-ish ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark,’ ” Uhls says. “There are murders and a mystery, and the lead character discovers a massive conspiracy, biblical in its origin.”

The third chapter of the Pirates of the Caribbean saga, At World’s End, is eight months away from theaters. That’s a long time to wait to find out how Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow escapes the jaws of the kraken – by Thomas K. Arnold, for USA Today.

Industry observers expect the DVD of the year’s biggest movie to easily be the year’s top seller, with predicted sales of 12 million to 13 million for Dead Man’s Chest.

The Dead Man’s Chest DVD will come out in both a single-disc edition ($30) and a two-disc collector’s edition ($35).

Both DVDs have bloopers and commentary, but the collector’s edition has something extra special for fans – a profile on Mr. Depp.

the fanlisting added

Uncategorized by Martina

I always had the Johnny Depp fanlisting running at my Collective domain,
today I added it to the site itself in hope to find some more fans joining.

A fanlisting is nothing more than a list which lists all of the fans of a subject, so if you are a fan of Johnny, consider joining – choose the fanlisting section from the navigation.

The fanlisting is approved by thefanlistings.org in the categories Author/Writer, Musician and Director/Producer, but I also added the option to join the actor’s part of Johnny, too.

So come on, let’s become the biggest list 🙂

Depp’s hero Richards films for ‘Pirates’

Uncategorized by Martina

Keith Richards, who inspired Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow, is filming for his role in the next Pirates of the Caribbean film writes Dave West of Digital Spy. Fellow Stone Ronnie Wood revealed he was “hard at work on the set with Johnny Depp.” “He said to me: ‘I’m not allowed to shave from now on, so they’re gonna tie little bits on my beard. Whatever bits grow, they’re gonna dangle bits off of it, and the longer it gets, the more they’re gonna tie on’,” explained Wood. “He promised to take a Polaroid as I’m dying to see it!”
