He is capable of anything and obviously has no limit to his abilities. He has proven this time and time again in a variety of roles, from a demon processed writer, to a homosexual prisoner. Johnny has portrayed characters from the dark ages with an English accent, to a sharp Irish tongued gypsy living on the French countryside. He has stood toe to toe with the industries most powerful performers like Marlon Brando and Al Pacino. The critics are always astonished and awed by his performances, mostly because no one can ever guess what role Johnny will pull off next. He continues to pull ?rabbits out of his hat,? not only acting in far-reaching roles, but also testing his own limits in his chosen profession.
What categorizes someone as a genius? Is it in the actor?s perception of their characters? It has been said that when people on the set have looked into Johnny?s eyes, they could physically see him change into another personality.

that Johnny will be visiting Mumbai for a few weeks in October. During his stay he will supposedly meet Amitabh Bachchan, his co-star in the scheduled movie project “Shantaram”.

Gregory David Roberts, author of the novel “Shantaram” on which the movie is based is expected in Mumbai on Oct. 15th.

Johnny’s itinerary will include “Leopold’s”, the bar featured in the book as well as a slum, where author Roberts stayed during his time in India.

Filming will start on Jan. 19th, 08

Warner Brothers has confirmed Johnny’s participation in a Peter-Bogdanovich-directed documentary about Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. The 4-hour-long film titled “Running Down A Dream” will debut at the New York Film Festival on Oct. 14th.

Also in mid October a book with the same title will be released featuring some more material from the interviews shown in the film as well as more than 300 photos.

Tim Burton received the Golden Lion lifetime achievement award from Johnny Depp, in a red carpet event.

Johnny’s words, when he gave the Lion to Tim Burton:
“Tim is a rare breed in today’s cinema: he is a true original, a true artist, a true auteur. He’s my favorite director and friend. So… let’s give him the thing, man.”

He looks great, as expected, just with shorter hair than expected:
