Whether your opinion of this renewed love for pirating is one of scorn or folly, there is no denying its ever-growing presence, even in our ?Depp? world here. As Johnny has gone on to other roles, Jack still lingers on. This brings us back to the question; what ingredients cause this awe for a character that was invented in the genius of our Johnny? It may never be explained, but I personally can testify to its reality as I wonder; could Johnny have dreamed that Captain Jack Sparrow would become a beacon of light for young and old?

Searching high and low for a Jack to represent our charity event, we stumbled upon Brandon Hillock. A pirate to be sure, he jumped the Disneyland boat for a much more better ship. In the months planning the event, I became acquainted with more Jack Sparrows than I knew could exist in The Locker as I was introduced to the pirate world itself. Seeing these photos on the net, I laughed at the reactions I would view in the videos wondering, how could grown people fumble for cameras with such awe as the kiddies scurry up to touch the pirate?

Most of you know that JDorg was an official sponsor supporting CoDAs 2008 event.

There’s something about the mixture of Murder mysteries
and the occult because when Johnny’s involved it seems
to work well with a graphic, novel adaptation.
First From Hell, now Rex Mundi.

“Johnny has an interest in the Templar Knights,”
Radical Publishing president Barry Levine says, he is
co-producing the “Rex Mundi” film with Depps’
Infinitum Nihil production company .
“He loves that kind of research and all that stuff.
He’s not so much a comics guy as much of a story guy.
If it’s a good story, it doesn’t matter.”

“People don’t want to see what they already know,”
Levine said. “People are open-minded, and they want
to be entertained, so this is a new opportunity for that.”

Screenwriter Jim Uhls has changed the story somewhat,
although Depp’s character Dr. Julien Sauniere will
still be leading.

“The second draft is now coming in from Jim,”
Levine said, “and Warner Bros. is pretty excited
about it. They came up with a couple of names
for directors, so now we just need Johnny to
look at the list. It all begins and ends with
Johnny. He’s got to be happy with the script,
and he gave his notes, so we’ll see what
happens next.”
