God’s gonna cut you down

ggcyd

Year: 2006

Music by: Johnny Cash

Johnny Depp playing: himself

screencaps

Plot

Johnny Cash recorded a version of “God’s Gonna Cut You Down” before his death in 2003. The song as it appears on American V: A Hundred Highways features an arrangement quite different from most known gospel versions of the song. The song is presented with a rhythmic stomp-clap downbeat, and, as opposed to most others, is grim and pessimistic in its portrayal of a vengeful and uncompromising God, serving as a warning to sinners.

A music video was made for this version in late 2006. It featured a number of celebrities, including Iggy Pop, Kanye West, Chris Martin, Kris Kristofferson, Patti Smith, Terrence Howard, Flea, Q-Tip, Adam Levine, Chris Rock, Justin Timberlake, Kate Moss, Sir Peter Blake, Sheryl Crow, Dennis Hopper, Woody Harrelson, Amy Lee, Tommy Lee, the Dixie Chicks, Mick Jones, Sharon Stone, Bono, Shelby Lynne, Anthony Kiedis, Travis Barker, Lisa Marie Presley, Kid Rock, Jay-Z, Keith Richards, Billy Gibbons, Corinne Bailey Rae, Johnny Depp, Graham Nash, Brian Wilson, Rick Rubin, Whoopi Goldberg and Owen Wilson. It also briefly features archive footage of Cash himself. The video was shot entirely in black and white. Since its release, both the song and video have seen moderate airplay.

The Cannes Film Festival. It’s where deals get made, producers get laid, and stars get paid. It’s where all the movie industry meets to buy and sell all the movies on the planet. And it’s where the art of the deal can be filled with more laughs than the deal itself. He meets Frank Rhinoslavsky ad turns him into ‘Frank Rhino, one of the hottest screenwriters to hit Cannes since Faulkner and Hemingway’. It’s not long before celebrities and producers are lining up to meet this hot young star. Dennis Hopper, Treat Williams, Johnny Depp, John Malkovich and more, all want to meet the ‘next Quentin Tarantino’. Sy charms them with his own particular blend of hype and substance, and by the end of the festival, has lined up one of the great casts of all time. The Libertine

Filmography by Carey

Year: 2004

Directed by: Laurence Dunmore

Written by :Stephen Jeffreys

Music by: Michael Nyman

Johnny Depp playing: John Wilmot,2nd. Earl of Rochester

Runtime: 114 min.

Release Date: November 25th, 2005

Plot Summary

The story of John Wilmot (Depp), a.k.a. the Earl of Rochester, a 17th century poet who famously drank and debauched his way to an early grave, only to earn posthumous critical acclaim for his life’s work.

John Wilmot, the Second Earl of Rochester, is the protagonist of this movie. It is played by Johnny Depp in an excellent way, and he is a poet, a writer, a person who was essentially bored and wanted to try everything on himself. He despised life, drank profusely, seduced women, condescended everyone from the King to his mother to his servant, and preferred to have his portrait done with a monkey rather than his wife. He evolves during the movie, both physically (he becomes almost unbearable to look at), and mentally, finally establishing some sort of relationships, and making us love him even more during his final speech. He captivates the audience, both in the story and in theatres.
