“The character’s going to be smart, he’s going to be mystical, he’s going to be funny, all of the trappings and the kind of things that Johnny brings to the screen, which is uniqueness,” Bruckheimer told one interviewer (video below). When I ran into the phlegmatic Bruckheimer last year he was very high on this one—for someone who doesn’t express much, he was as excited as he gets. It’s not updated—it’s set in classic western territory, post-Civil War, period, in 1869. They aren’t sure where they’re going to shoot yet; the movie co-stars Helena Bonham Carter, who played opposite Depp in Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd and Alice in Wonderland.
Verbinski, 46, cited Cervantes to the LAT and indicated that Depp would the “slippery” yang to straight-arrow Armie Hammer’s yin: “I want the version from the untrustworthy narrator who might be a little crazy — but somehow the question is, is he crazy or is the world crazy? That, I find fascinating.” He’s going for a subversive take on the Old West. “The only version of ‘The Lone Ranger’ I’m interested in doing is ‘Don Quixote’ told from Sancho Panza’s point of view.”

August 26 to 28, we from johnnydeppforum.de are doing our yearly forum convention in Northern Germany, 100km eastern of Hamburg. We’ll watch some movies, one movie will be chosen as the motto, and we’ll do a lot of games based on the motto, the decoration and food as well (yes, I desperately wait for doing Chocolat as motto). We sleep in tents, make barbecue and campfire at the beach of the river Elbe.
We’re working hard on the decoration these days, found 2 huge sponsors already, and the scenery will be incredible this year.
If you’re interested, and live in the near (we watch movies in English, so even if you don’t speak German, it will be a nice day), feel free to join us.
Just drop me an email for more questions.
and Johnny…if you read this…you’re of course invited, too. You could easily anchor in the port of the village with your Vajoliroja.

Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter are still in the thick of filming their current movie, Dark Shadows, in the U.K., but crews are already building sets for their next film, The Lone Ranger, in New Mexico.
According to our source, the production company has staked out and started building a set on private land in Grant County, New Mexico. The company is planning to use two different undisclosed locations in the county.
In addition to the New Mexico location, they will also film a portion of the movie in Texas.
The Lone Ranger stars Armie Hammer in the title role, Depp as his sidekick Tonto, and Tom Wilkinson as a railroad tycoon. Bonham Carter also recently signed on as brothel madam, along with Barry Pepper who will play a military officer, and Dwight Yoakam who has signed on as a gang leader.
The movie is set to begin filming in October. If you have any scoop about The Lone Ranger, let us know at olv@onlocationvacations.com!
After nearly 7 1/2 years, JDorg got its first real fan mail. Not Johnny, who probably gets thousand the day, no, THIS site…we…the crew. I was over-exited, when I found this beautiful card from Canada in my (real, not electronic) mail box. Thank you, Ginny!
