The Libertine

Johnny Depp rips through Restoration England with a bottle of wine under one arm, a whore under the other – By Matthew Rose.

In the mid-’90s, John Malkovich approached Depp about starring as the earl in this adaptation of Stephen Jeffreys’s play, after portraying the rake himself at the Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago. “My first reaction was, ‘Why not you?’ ” Depp recalls. ” ‘You’re so good. You should do it.’ And he said, ‘No, no, no, I want you to play it.’ ” Politeness aside, it’s a raunchy role Depp was born to play: Think Jack Sparrow meets the Marquis de Sade.

Depp attends Willy Wonka premiere

Appearances Projects by Martina

The scene at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles on July 10, 2005 was colorful with crowds of Deppheads as Hollywood Star Johnny Depp attended the premiere of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Depp, who plays the reclusive Willy Wonka is deliberately disconnected from reality. Vanessa Paradis, Frankie Muniz, Brittany Spears, and Darrel Hannah were also in attendance.

The following highlights are provided by the bbc uk edition:

Johnny Depp said his inspiration for the Wonka character was “part game show host, part children’s show host… locked in a closet for about 10 or 15 years”. But he has denied rumours that he based his performance on Michael Jackson. “It never entered my mind,” he told Sydney’s Herald Sun newspaper, saying the character was more similar to reclusive billionaire Howard Hughes.

Tim Burton also directed Depp in Edward Scissorhands and Sleepy Hollow “I think Johnny brings a great edge to Willy Wonka,” he said. “He invites kids to the factory and gives them sweets and chocolates, but on the other hand the four of them meet a sticky end.”

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is out in the US on Friday 10 July and the UK on 29 July.

Admin gone until August 8th

Uncategorized by Martina

From July 13th until August 8th, I (Martina=Admin) am traveling to
Spain with my family sleeping in tents and so without any chance to get
access to the Internet.
So I cannot read your emails until then and have to leave this site
alone without any updates.
Conny will in this time get all the emails I would get and will answer
the important ones, but I would prefer, if you would just wait the time
to contact me.
Anyway – I hope, everything will work without me with the great
staffers of jdorg helping me.
Take care, Martina.
