The Pirates of The Caribbean star Johnny Depp was hoping to rival The X Factor with his new song “Jesus Stag Night Club,” but it seems that his bid for a Christmas chart success has got him into trouble with Christians.

  • Being a Christian I don’t agree with the song , but Johnny will always be my favorite actor and friend.
Saying Johnny will burn in hell is not how Jesus would respond to this. All my hopes ginny

  • I’m Christian as well and I agree, Ginny. Who is that guy to judge Johnny? That’s God’s job. And like one of the comment’s to the article said referring to the bible, “they know not what they do” and Johnny’s life isn’t over. Some Christians get on my nerves being so quick to judge someone! lol

  • I agree, ginny. I am a Christian but I don’t take these things seriously, although at first glance some things do offend me. It’s like Lady Gaga’s song “Judas”. Fellow Christians were up in arms because of the matter of the song. If you listen to her in interviews and then the song, it states that she is with a new lover but wants to be back with the lover that betrayed her. I am a fan of Johnny as well, and although I think he should try to watch what he says due to being in the public eye all the time, he has a right to free speech. So does the other person in the song. I may not always agree with what he or others say but it’s a free country. It just seems like he’s getting himself into more and more hot water lately. As a fan, I don’t want to see him have to constantly go through that type of stuff and have people turn against him. I never want that to be the case with me. In the end though, it’s not me who’s judging him, it’s God. I am a huge admirer and hope to be for a long, long time. He is such a good person, I just know it. Hey, he’s human and we all make mistakes and say/do things that others don’t like. If you don’t like something, don’t read or listen to it. Simple as that. I still support you, Johnny! Have for almost nine wonderful years 🙂 Keep your head up and keep going!

  • No matter what Johnny does someone will have something to say about it so I give him a lot of credit for just doing what he wants to do and is happy what he is doing. All he is doing with this song is playing guitar which is his first love. I love him no matter what he does or says. Somone said once there is no such thing as bad publicity.

  • The problem is that some people don’t understand the song at all, they hear the word “Jesus” and start making noise. It’s just a funny song. If those fundamentalists always react that way they will be pretty lonely in heaven. Also there were other Babybird songs in the past that involved “Jesus”. I don’t remember that there also was such a fuss. To me this looks like those people are using Johnny’s name, knowing that this name will get them an audience, for spreading their crude theories otherwise no one would read.

  • Hahahaha this is really funny, actually. I think Johnny, as I, could care less what these groups think. What they think isn’t the word of God, it’s the word of man. I feel like these groups should stop sitting on their asses judging other people like they’re so holier than thou. People are free to believe what they want but I stop taking anyone seriously in the least bit when they declare others are going to hell. These groups are a joke to me, they’re right up there with the circus. It’s a song. John Lennon said the Beatles were bigger than Jesus, does that mean if I listen to the Beatles I’m going to hell? Or if I’m listening to Judas by Gaga? I don’t recall Jesus declaring anyone was going to hell, or hating those who disagreed with him. They say that they speak and stand by Jesus, yet their actions and words are the opposite of who he was and what he preached. (Mind you I believe in Jesus and his preachings so no one can say I’m anti-christian) These groups act as though they are God, and they are not. Who the hell are they to say or decide anything? Also, in my mind, I’d like to think that Jesus has a sense of humor. I say if you’ve got a problem with it, don’t listen to it. Johnny’s never stated he’s particularly religious at all (if he were he said he’d be a Christian) and he’s allowed to express in music whichever way he likes. This is rock and roll and it’s not the first time ppl get pissed and take a song as serious as the Bible, and it certainly won’t be the last. Just gotta laugh along the way watching it happen.

    Swell song JD,

A quote: “Joey Malone points out that Johnny didn’t write the song, or sing the song, Johnny played guitar on that particular track on the album…that’s it! They are blowing it way out of proportion. This is Stephen Jones’s song, his art, his creation…Johnny was merely one of many musicians who played on the album. Joey tells me that he is “pleasantly surprised” by all of this nonsense and “puzzled” by the recent Christmas spin on the whole ordeal. Bruce Witkin sums it all up by saying, ” We didn’t start this publicity stunt, but we sure do appreciate it! Whoever decided to make such a big deal out of Jesus Stag Nightclub did Babybird and Unison Music a big favor because it has brought us more attention than we could have ever dreamed of…thank you!” And as for Johnny, Bruce said he is sure our good friend finds it all quite amusing.”

  • Both these organizations are made of people who use the bible to generate hate against any group or individual they believe is blasphemous. That is everything from the GLBTQ community to, yes, Johnny Depp. It’s very unfortunate, they have power here in the USA. But anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together either ignores their edicts or fights them tooth and nail. Since Johnny qualifies as having more than enough brain cells, I hope he laughs the “ultra-right yahoos” off.

  • I too am christian, and i can see how this song could be offended ,it is a bit risky, but it was not meant to be offensive. And all the blame is being put on Johnny, he didn’t even write the song… They are picking on him, because he is the biggest star out of any of them, it’s not fair. To say he will burn in hell, is over the top and out of line. Like i said I’m christian, but this song isn’t meant as a insult towards Christianity, i think it was just supposed to be funny.

  • If Johnny donates money for a children hospital, some people think that he just wants to seem cool and kind-hearted, but really he’s just a stupid actor that wants to be in the center of attention by donating. You all know it’s bullsh*t.
And if he does a song like that, some people think that he’s absolutely disgusting and what so ever. You all know it’s bullsh*t as well.
So – what I want to say is that there are always people that don’t like him, because we’re all different. Be a Twilight fan if you want, but WE here know, that Johnny is the best actor and whatever he does, is actually none of our business (but as we are the fans of his, then we really want to know what he does and maybe in that case want to listen to songs he participates in) So, if you, Christians and “Johnny-Depp-haters”, don’t like it or it offends you, why do you even open links or videos like that?!?! I just can not understand…

  • I am a missionary chaplain. The group that is causing all of the ruckus does not have the right to judge Johnny or any person for that matter. God is the only one that can and will judge ALL of us! I feel that Johnny shows respect to all faiths of the world and would not disrespect Jesus. Keep in mind that he didn’t write the words of the song, he played guitar. True, the words are a bit off, but that does not qualify Johnny a ticket to Hell, just because he played with the band. Johnny, I feel, has God in his heart. He shows it by the way he lives and gives. So, let’s pray for the group and keep Johnny lifted up in prayer as well! God bless!
