Johnny – who was the butt of one of The Office star’s jibes at this year’s Golden Globes, when he described Johnny’s acting in The Tourist as one-dimensional – was reportedly ‘desperate’ to work alongside Ricky.
An insider recently said: ‘Johnny will guest star in Ricky’s new BBC Two show. He’s trying to work out his schedule but it will definitely go ahead.
Johnny is a huge fan of Ricky’s and has a great sense of humour. He has wanted to work with Ricky for ages and this is it.’

LONDON (Hollywood Reporter) – He was the butt of some controversial sparring at the Golden Globes for his role in “The Tourist,” but Johnny Depp doesn’t seem to have taken Ricky Gervais’s high-profile ribbing to heart.
The star of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchises is confirmed to appear in Gervais’s upcoming BBC2 sitcom “Life’s Too Short,” according to a post on Gervais’s blog.
Depp will guest star in the comedy, which is expected to have a host of big name cameo spots, though Gervais used his “This Side of The Truth” blog to dismiss rumors that Jerry Seinfeld would also make a guest appearance.
“The Depp bit is true. The Seinfeld isn’t,” he wrote.
“Life’s Too Short,” which is being co-written by Gervais’ longtime creative partner Stephen Merchant, will air on HBO as well as BBC2. It features the continuing adventures of diminutive star Warwick Davis who plays an egomaniac dwarf who runs a talent agency for other dwarves.
Meanwhile Gervais used his blog to confirm that he and Will Arnett will guest star in the hour-long final episode of “The Office,” scheduled to air May 19 on NBC.

Well its a good thing Johnny didn’t take Ricky Gervais’ so called jokes seriously =) I for one did not laugh about Ricky’s jokes at all.Anyways,I Cannot wait to watch it now that johnny is going to be in it!

Johnny officially has a good sense of humor and certainly doesn’t expect everyone to like all of his movies. I personally love Ricky Gervais and think he’s so brilliant- but did not find his Golden Globes hosting funny at all, just in general with or without the bashing of everyone. He crossed the line between funny/jabbing fun (which is always a fun mix) and not funny/too far at jabbing.
That being said he’s still incredibly ingenious when it comes to everything. his t.v. shows ‘the office’ and ‘extra’s’ are brilliant and are so freaking funny it hurts. I’m so excited to see Johnny a part of yet another British t.v. show. Can’t wait to see what happens between him and Ricky! Good for Johnny for not taking anything personal, an opinion is an opinion and Ricky, just as everyone else is allowed to have it and express it. I for one didn’t like the Astronaut’s Wife, but I still love Johnny just the same <3
