Rose Sparrow’s Encounter

I was standing in front of the barricade outside of the Letterman show for 6 hours in the blazing heat but it was worth it. I was holding out a bottle of wine for him to sign and when he got right in front of me he decided to take off his black shirt. He then looked up over his purple colored glasses and said,”Is that for me?” I managed to get my wits about me and said that he could have it if he wanted it but I only wanted him to sign it. He said,”No that’s okay, here let me sign it” I literally was inches away from his Jack tattoo and gold teeth and I was sorely tempted to kiss him but I was truly in shock that he even talked to me first. He is so gorgeous and a really down to earth guy. I have sent you some pictures that my son took but unfortunately I am not in them.

Depp’s Duck encounter

I met Johnny on July 27 in New York City when he appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman. As soon as I heard Johnny was going to appear on the show that night, I walked down to the Disney store on 5th Ave & bought A PotC book for him to sign. I was on vacation, so I didn’t have any of my Johnny photos or posters with me. But it was a great excuse to buy the book! I waited outside the studio for him for 5 hours. I arrived at 12:30 & got a place right across the street from the stage door! There were probably only about 50 people there when I showed up, but by the time he was rumored to arrive (4:00), there were about 500 people. We waited & waited & waited, & finally at 4:20, a black Excursion pulled up & Johnny got out of the car! I was SO excited I almost died right then & there! He was not even 20 feet away from me, just across the street!

He posed for the papparazzi, turned to the crowd & tried to shout over the crowd, “I’ll come back! I promise!” So he went inside & it was time for more waiting. At about 5:30, the NYPD began putting up even MORE blockades, making a sort of half-circle around the building. The car he arrived in was in the center of the circle,

Servermove and whatnotever…

Allright –
there haven’t been many updates in the last time.

This had many reasons:

1. I had my last weeks of the last semester before my diplom work at university and I never in my life had that less free time.

2. we moved over to a new server, to surpass hosting, and we first had to reupload everything.

3. because of the change I decided to as well switch the news, articles and updates script to a new one. News and articles were switched some time before, but today was the day I deleted the old updates folder and now added the new script –
I did not yet have the time to readd all the old updates. That’s why the last one is from 2005…of course it is not!!!!

‘Pirates’ Sails to Third Top Box Office Weekend With $35 Million

Uncategorized by Martina

The Associated Press reported on Sunday that Johnny Depp’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” has plundered more pirate treasure remaining the top movie for the third straight weekend. The Disney sequel passed the $305 million domestic total that its predecessor, 2003’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl,” rang up during its entire six-month run. Pirates director tired but happy

Uncategorized by Martina

www.stuff.co.nz recently interviewed the director, Gore Verbinski, of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest Fame, about the second instalment of his pirates adventure trilogy. Here’s a short excerpt…

Does Johnny Depp stay in character on set?

GORE: He turns Captain Jack on and off like a switch. Johnny’s so close to that character that there’s more Johnny Depp in Captain Jack than in any other character he’s played. I think if you’d seen him doing Ed Wood for example, you’d have seen him stay in character a lot more on set, trying to find the character and keep it and distill it. But Captain Jack is really close to Johnny. I think his other performances he’s been running away from an archetype, from being a leading man, the sort of guy who gets the girl and there’s usually a shyness and an introverted quality to those performances. But Jack is a braggart, a liar, a thief and a conman and at ease with it to. So I think there have been these floodgates with Johnny holding all this stuff back for years and suddenly with Captain Jack, Whoosh! The line I always keyed into in thinking how to direct Jack was one from the first movie: ‘You’re the worst pirate I’ve ever heard of’ – ‘Yes, but at least you’ve heard of me’.

Box office suddenly not dead after all

Uncategorized by Martina

David Hiltbrand of the Philadelphia Inquirer writes that the most successful pirates, from Blackbeard and Jean Lafitte to Jack Sparrow, have always employed the element of surprise, sneaking up on their prey. So what does the extraordinary success of that scalawag Sparrow mean?

‘First and foremost, that the box office is not dead,’ said Brandon Gray, president and publisher of the Web site Box Office Mojo. ‘Make a movie people want to see and they will rush to see it. This is that rare crowd-pleaser. Audiences loved the adventure, the humor, the horror, and the characters, particularly Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow.’

‘Industry observers predicted it would do well, but no one thought it would do this well,’ said Harry Medved of Fandango, the ticket-selling outlet. By Friday, Fandango was selling an unprecedented 10 tickets per second to Dead Man’s Chest…

Swashbuckling smash hit

Uncategorized by Martina

…I would be hard pressed to find an instance where Johnny Depp has not delivered. Even in projects where the film crumbled around him (let’s say ‘Astronaut’s Wife’ and ‘Once Upon a Time in Mexico’) Depp is ALWAYS magnificent. He has created in the quirky rogue of a pirate Jack Sparrow an iconic figure that will forever be in the annals of cinematic history.

I highly recommend ‘Pirates’ to all those looking to get lost in the magic of cinema for a few hours. Parental note: while it’s a great film for the kiddos, the time is a bit lengthy so act accordingly. However, for those with a strong bladder ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ will deliver a truly magical cinematic experience that rivals any ride Disney could conjure up…

Yo-ho me Hardies, yo-hoarr.
