Possible Role for Depp?

Projects by Martina

A PLAN to make a film of the life of Michael Hutchence, the rock star who killed himself in 1997, has run into strong opposition from his family – by Paul Ham for TimesOnLine.co.uk.

Nick Egan, a British film director and friend of the INXS frontman, is looking for actors to play the roles of the singer, as well as the late Paula Yates, his girlfriend, and Bob Geldof.

Among the actors Egan is considering for the role of Hutchence are Johnny Depp, Hayden Christensen, Eric Bana and a little-known singer-actor from Australia called Michael Piccirilli.

The new biopic is due to go into pre-production in the next three months and is scheduled for release next year.

‘Caribbean’ cast bond during long shoot

Projects by Martina

Digital Spy – The Pirates Of The Caribbean stars have become mates thanks to spending so much time together on location, says Mackenzie Crook – by Dave West.

Two sequels to the movie are being filmed in one go, so actors including Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley have been together on a Caribbean island for quite a while.

“It’s been an incredible and intense period of work,” Office star Crook told The Sun. “It took so much longer than anyone could’ve expected.”

“We had no choice but to become good mates. When we’re on location we’re all living in each other’s pockets,” said the actor, who plays Raggetti in the films. “But we got to spend pretty much a year on a Caribbean island shooting them, so we’ve had an amazing time.”

He told fans to expect more of his well-loved pirate antics, saying: “I’m still the same old Raggeti that you know and love. I don’t run away with the heroine or anything, there’s no romance for me.”

“But there’s lots more eyeball gags,” he added. “I’ve even got my own action figure now, it’s what I’ve been working towards. I can die a happy man.”

Johnny to produce Caliber

Projects by Martina

28 January 2006 – Barely a year after opening shop, Toronto’s Speakeasy Comics has been approached by HBO to serialize TV’s No. 1 Mafia clan, and has Johnny Depp knocking at its door by BARRETT HOOPER for the THE GLOBE AND MAIL.

Speakeasy has already cozied up to actors Rosario Dawson and Johnny Depp, director John Woo, and the guy who made Catwoman (although Fortier asks that you not judge the director based on that bit of star-driven, studio-controlled kitty litter). The plan calls for Speakeasy to publish four new comics, starting in May, that will then be made into feature films.

Occult Crimes Taskforce will publish in May, along with Caliber, a reimagining of the Arthurian legend as a western, with King Arthur as the town sheriff, Lancelot as a gunslinger and Guinevere as a saloonkeeper. It’s based on an idea brought to Speakeasy by Depp and his producing partner. Depp will produce and possibly star in the movie version; Woo, who directed Face/Off and Mission: Impossible 2, will direct. “We got lucky and attached some good people to it,” says Fortier. “John Woo was supposed to make another western, but the funding fell through so he jumped on board pretty quick.”
