I’ll never EVER forget this day

Uncategorized by Martina

The day before, I tried not to get my hopes up at all, because so many people have been to premieres and not even seen him. I didnt want to be let down badly so I just looked at it as just a chance.

We were looking to get there at about 7 in the morning but we arrived at 9 so I was worried we weren’t going to be anywhere near the front. It was already quite busy there and we were looking for a place to stand. We walked past the entrance and went into the crowd. I ended up on the 2nd row which wasn’t what I’d hoped but it was better than nothing. The guards were moving the barriers around so we were shuffling around a lot, and about 15 minutes later they moved one and I saw this space at the front about 2 meters away. I literally dived for it and I got in and I was so happy. I had a perfect view of the space where they would be arriving and signing. I turned round to my mum and my mate with this massive grin on my face. 🙂
We were stood there for about 9 hours, and it is so damn uncomfortable. I was determined not to lose my space, so I didnt sit down, go to the toilet, go to get food or drink. I just stayed put and my back and feet killed.

Nichi’s Encounter

I just got back a while ago from the London DMC premiere. I managed to get front row, and after waiting out in the heat all day, the stars started to arrive about 5.45pm (I think, if my memory serves me correctly!). Keira, Orlando, and Johnny! Keira signed a few autographs then disappeared, we assumed, to talk to the press, but she never came back… Orlando was great, signed loads, I got his autograph and he said to me ‘how you doing, thanks for coming’! And then Johnny! Holy sh*t, I kid you not, that man is even more BEAUTIFUL in the flesh… *sigh* I held out my F&L book and my P cd for him. He signed the book, then looked straight at me and smiled and said ‘Oh, you got the P cd, well done!’ AND HE STROKED THE BACK OF MY HAND! OMG OMG OMG! Johnny TOUCHED ME! And his fingers are so SOFT! And the gold teeth were there, and he had on his purple shades and his favourite *of the moment* hat…. And he was all golden brown and OH MY GOD! I could go on all night but I’d better shut up now! Honestly I’m grinning so much my face is aching! I’m totally more in love with him than ever….

Whew, I’m gonna have to take a breather. OH BUT I also managed to nab one of the cardboard posters they put up on the barriers – it’s HUGE! And gorgeous!

Stef’s Encounter

I got to the Odeon at about 12:30 and the place was packed, but finally found a place at the far end of Leicester square, where all the cars drove past. I wasn’t at the front of the barriers, but close enough to reach my hand forward to grab autographs. Orlando was the first ‘celeb’ to come and sign autographs for us, he was great, he was asking everyone how they were. He signed my little book that i had for ‘other celebs’ lol. I got some hilarious shots of him too, some where he’s got his mouth wide open looking at the camera. Anyway, to the man of the hour…I could see Johnny getting closer and closer, omg i have never felt my legs shake so much in all my life, it was freaky. Then he was right in front of me, so i stretched out my hand so he could sign my picture, he actually took hold of my picture to sign it!!!! I just wish i put my hand down lower, so his hand would have touched mine. I shouted Thank you, but i don’t think he heard, the girl infront of me said thank you, and he said you’re welcome, wow, just to hear his voice is amazing. Anyway i also got some really great shots of Johnny, my dad had his camera too and he got some, but our stupid video camera didn’t work. But when i was taking pictures, i made sure i just looked at Johnny and not through the camera lense.

Julie J’s Encounter

On July 3rd 2006 I went to London for the POTC2 premiere. I arrived there shortly before five am. Originally I’d planned to turn up after seven, but due to the intense heat (and the excitement of the premiere) I’d been unable to sleep that night, so I went a little earlier. I’m very glad I did, as there were already over thirty people there by the time I arrived. I found a spot but ended up moving a few hours later when there was a scare that the barriers weren’t going to be placed there. In the end I landed a great spot just a little to the right from the doors of the Odeon cinema and I only truly relaxed once a barrier was in front of me. I’d managed to score a front row place, which I’d been so determined to do.

The rest of the day was spent waiting in unbearable heat. It was the hottest day of the year, and so warm that the Odeon staff were squirting us all with water to try and help keep us safe. In the mid afternoon, one staff member came over to the group I was standing with and told us “I’ve got some information for you, Mr Depp will be arriving at 5:30” and told us how Johnny would go to the press first, then walk up the red carpet and start signing from the left, which got us all really excited because it truly confirmed that he was really coming (it had been a constant worry of mine that Johnny wouldn’t turn up,

Mata’s Encounter

We arrived around 1pm at Leicester Square and it was already crowded. Things didn’t look that good with us being shoved away three times from perfectly nice spots, but at the end we found a place at the far end of all the action. Luckily in first row, uncomfortable but promising. And we were lucky indeed, since Johnny was one of the few who made it to our end of the Square.
Once he was visibly moving towards us everyone got nuts, though Johnny presence made up for the squishing and shoving. He didn’t stay for long, being already in a hurry, but he took the time to sign anything he could grab, which was quite sweet.
In conclusion I’d say that all the waiting was worth these few seconds – if possible he’s even more gorgeous in person than on screen.

Jdpes’s Encounter

I went from Spain to the premiere! I spent the weekend visiting London and on Monday I went to the premiere. I was so nervous because I can’t believe that I was there and that I was going to see Johnny! When his car arrived and I see him in person for the first time I started to tremble. He started to sign autographs, I had 2 photos, one for me and one for a friend, he signed one photo and continued singing autographs for other people but I touched his arm and he looked at me!! and I said him: “Johnny I’ve come from Spain just to see you” and he looked at me with surprise and said “really? and then I think that he said “thank you very much for coming here” but I’m not sure if that is what he said to me because I was so shocked and impressed that he was talking to me that I can’t remenber very well what he said . Then I gave him the other photo for my friend and he signed it. It was one of the best days in my life!!
Her are some pics that I took:

UK – Total Film, July 2006 – The Shore Thing

News by

Title: The Shore Thing

Author: Martyn Palmer

Publication: UK – Total Film

Issue: July 2006

Inside the vast Atlantis Resort Hotel (think Las Vegas in the Bahamas), a multitude of mostly American tourists are going about the business of having fun with serious intent. The slot machines bleep, the drinks are served in primary colours then consumed in vast amounts, and there’s a queue forming for the ‘swim with the dolphins’ tour. Nobody pays much attention to the strange-looking guy with dreadlocks and beard, a man adorned with enough bangles and beads to stock a Camden market stall.

He weaves his way through the hotel lobby throng, orange shirt sleeves rolled up to reveal a number of tattoos, murmuring a polite “‘Scuse me,” mouth glinting with gold tooth. Some people – just a few, mind – give him a puzzled second glance as he disappears into an anonymous conference room”, and then continue about their business. Sure, looks a little different from the pasty skinned shorts and t-shirt brigade — but, hey; maybe he’s a member of the Calypso band that’s playing that night.

Johnny Depp isn’t filming today. Yesterday, out on his (or rather Captain Jack Sparrow’s) treasured vessel, The Black Pearl, he was in full regalia. Today he’s in partial ensemble: missing his bandana, battered three-cornered hat, pistol (authentic, made in London in 1712,

Johnny Depp Denies He’ll Play Pal Michael Hutchence In Film

Projects by Martina

andPOP – Johnny Depp has laughed off reports he will play Michael Hutchence in a new film about the life of the late INXS frontman, reports Ninemsn – by Jennifer Weatherhead.

“It’s not true,” Depp told reporters in Los Angeles while promoting his new film, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.

In fact Depp didn’t even know about the film until a friend sent him a clipping of a media report stating he would play the part. The film “Slide Away” is about the life and death of Hutchence, who was found dead in his hotel room in Sydney in 1997.

“Somebody sent that to me and I read it and thought ‘Wow, that’s kind of interesting’,” Depp said, laughing about the media story. “No-one ever approached me about it. I don’t think I’d be the guy to play Michael. I knew him pretty well. He was pretty broad, Michael. He was kind of a glam guy. He was like a god, like a shaman, so I don’t think I’d be the guy.”

Johnny thanks his long-time agent Tracey Jacobs

Articles by Martina

Agent Tracey Jacobs was selected by VARIETY, the Hollywood trade paper, as a “Woman of Impact,” one of the most influential females in an industry where powerful women are still a rarity. Ms. Jacobs has represented Johnny Depp since his early days in Hollywood; in fact, it was Tracey who prevailed upon Johnny to meet Tim Burton and discuss playing EDWARD SCISSORHANDS. Johnny has often spoken of Tracey’s loyalty to him despite career choices that could drive an ordinary agent round the bend–for example, turning down blockbusters like SPEED while electing to make the little-seen (but thoroughly brilliant) DEAD MAN. “Tracey’s taken a lot of heat over the years,” Johnny told TIME’s Josh Tyrangiel last year. “She has bosses and higher-ups, and every time I take on another strange project, they’re going, ‘[…]When does he do a movie where he kisses the girl? When does he get to pull a gun out and shoot somebody? […] When is he finally going to do a blockbuster?’”

Ironically, Tyrangiel added, when Johnny Depp’s blockbuster opportunity came around, “his long-suffering agent didn’t want him to take the part” of Captain Jack Sparrow. “He was pitched the movie without a script,” Tracey told Tyrangiel. “They basically said, ‘We’re going to make a movie out of this theme-park ride. Want to do it?’ And he said, ‘Great! I’m in. I believe in the idea.’ I just thought, What idea, you lunatic?”

Today Johnny celebrated Tracey’s being named a “Woman of Impact”
