Deppth’s Encounter

I just came back from the premiere and I’m still in shock that I met johnny! He is so sweet and so awesome. He was the last to arrive but it was worth the wait.

n the picture were he is waving, you can see a letter in his publisist’s hand. His hands were getting too full so I guess he handed it to her. I hope he had the chance to read it. I also left my number and email on the letter, so now everytime I get a incoming call with a restricted number or when my computer says that I have 1 new message waiting, I panic. I’m not going to get my hopes up though, because I know what a busy guy he is and all. I’m still in shock from yesterday, I’m on cloud 9!

Gypselee’s Encounter

I am still in shock. Johnny got there about 2:55, his usual timing! As soon as he got out of his SUV he walked across the street to us before he even posed for the press. He walked along signing autographs and being very gracious. When he got to me I handed him my CATCF book and while he signed it I just told him that I loved everything he has done. I wasn’t sure he heard me over all the crowd, but then he paused, looked up into my eyes and said in his sultry voice “thank you very much.”
Faint Next he signed a picture for my niece and then stopped in front of Mindy, who had some wrist bands she had specifically made for him. (you can see the blue one in his hand in this picture) She offered them to him and he looked at them and said “Wow, cool” and took them, shook her hand and signed her poster. After that he maybe signed two more autographs down the row when security told him it was time to go and he headed back across the street. OH, the traffic was not blocked during this premiere. I asked security why that was and he said WB didn’t need the extra press with this movie and didn’t want to put out the $25,000 it would have cost to close the road. Bummer Ted. But when Johnny crossed the street towards us he didn’t even wait for security,

3’s Encounter

I got there around 10am. And right away we waited and waited.

And finally when all the stars came, it was complete chaos. Everyone was yelling, and people were pushing. I got in a fight with this boy who just took my place (after waiting for 5 hours). I pushed him out of the way.

I saw Freddie Highmore and Tim Burton.

And when Johnny finally came, I first noticed his hat. He crossed the street and everyone (including myself) screamed out, “Johnny! Johnny!” and he signed some autographs but he didn’t come near us. But I was just happy to see him in person. But the girl who stood in front of me, started crying.

When he went back and started talking to the press, we still yelled out his name, and he would turn around and smile and wave. Yey.

I only took 2 pictures. 1 of the theater and one of Tim crossing the street. It’s super blurry though, so I don’t think they are worth posting.

I had a lot of fun, despite the rude people. I’m just happy to see Johnny in the flesh. He’s so, wow.

Deeplysmitten’s Encounter

What a great time!!! Meeting some of the zoners was just so much fun. We all hugged and it was as if we already knew one another!!
Johnny was so beautiful in person! Wow! And so kind too! Like everyone said, he came right over to us. I feel we were VERY lucky, because out of a whole city block of waiting fans, he came our way, and I think all of the zoners met him!!! How cool!!
He signed my copy of The Brave, and then I had a little letter to give him, so I handed that to him next, but he never looked up at that time, so he started to sign my letter!! I said “no, no.” He looked up at me, and I said “That’s for you! For later!” And then he smiled and chuckled and said “Oh, Okay!!”, and put it in his pocket!!!
I had my 15 year old daughter with me, and even though we had been there since 7 am, people were pushing and shoving, and she got pushed back about 2 feet! Johnny was passing us, and she wanted him to sign her ipod.
I asked her for it, she passed it to me, and I handed it to Johnny! He just sort of looked at it like….what’s this…a pink ipod…he looked kind of confused , and then I said “Can you sign it?”
He nodded, then turned it over, and signed it. He then looked me right in the face,

Szasza’s encounter

I was at the premeire yesterday. Okay lots of the zoners posted how the stupid street wasn’t blocked off and how Freddie did come over and then Tim so I won’t resay all that. having them come over made the shoving and pushing and being smashed into the barricade rail okay. The icing on the cake though was seeing JD’s hat come out of his black vehicle and him rushing over dodging cars and buses to get to his fans. What an amazing guy. I had already received a Tim Burton autograph and I was so happy about that. I brought my Charlie and the Chocolate Factory book that my Grandparents gave me in 1978. It isn’t the nicest looking thing but I adored that story so much as a kid. I had Tim sign the first page of the book, he seemed like he was glancing at it a bit and I’m hoping he thought that was cool since he obviously loves the book too. So back to our man, I yelled out PLEASE JOHNNY I HAVE MY OLD BOOK MY OLD CHARLIE BOOK! He gently took it from me and began writing his name. Being smashed against the rail, breathless with excitement over him standing in front of me holding my things I said I GOT THIS WHEN I WAS 8. He stopped writing, gave me a huge grin so big I could see all his gold teeth, looked directly into my eyes and said WOW. I was amazed at his sincerity during all the commotion.

Deppenpointe’s Encounter

I have to say that my hands are still shaking from the Johnny and Tim encounter. It’s absolutely surreal since I felt that I would never be able to meet them in real life ever in my life.

I arrived across the streets from the Graumann’s Chinese Theatre at around 8:45 and I was able to have a spot right at the front row thanks to the zoners who were saving spots for us there ever since 6:45 in the morning. We had a looong wait behind the rails, but the time seemed to whiz by since many Deppheads were there to hang out with. I wrote a private letter to Johnny, and I swear I had to have 15 rough drafts until I ended up with the final draft that I was going to send to Johnny. Karen left a small note in my PM this morning, and I copied that down and clipped that to my letter for Johnny to have.

It was so cool standing there since the soundtrack music was blaring in the speakers, and the theatre workers were starting to decorate the red carpet with couple dozens of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory posters. The lights were blaring and several impersonators came walking by and even a Willy Wonka impersonator who looked exactly like Johnny started hanging around the area. I had my “JDReads and JDZone congratulates Johnny and cast/crew” sign and several other zoners had “Zoners love Johnny” and “Semi-sweet and nuts”

Arus’s Encounter

Hey everyone. 🙂 I’d like to say that this is definately one of the best Johnny Depp communities that I have come across so far. Wonderful forum. I’ve been reading the topics for a while now but I finally decided to register and join you guys after my experience today.

Well, obviously…I adore Johnny Depp. I’ve loved him since I was a little girl, when I saw his movies Private Resort, Crybaby and Edward Scissorhands. I finally saw him in person today in Hollywood at the Charlie & The Chocolate Factory premiere. My best friend Amy and I got to the theater around 5:30 am and there were only about 7-10 other fans who were there already. I guess it’s safe to say that we were the first group of people there. Since we were there so early we got to watch the crew members set up for the premiere which was going to take place at 3:00 pm.

So anyway, we got lined up against the barricade to stake our spots (first row…front and center which we THOUGHT would have been a great spot, but not really eh ) and more and more fans started showing up around 9 am and random people and tourists also filled the street a couple hours later. We were all lined up across the street. We waited…and waited…and waited for HOURS. Finally, the stars showed up (the kids from the movie as well as Tim Burton…gotta love him!) Tim came across the street to greet the fans but he only stayed in one spot….basically,

Life’s sweet for Johnny Depp

Interviews by Martina

NASSAU, Bahamas — Move over George Hamilton. Johnny Depp is dark. Mahogany dark, like a light-roast coffee bean in the sun. By JIM SLOTEK — Toronto Sun.

::In this excerpt Tim Burton and Johnny Depp talk to Jim Slotek about giving the Willy Wonka character a persona in their upcoming movie, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory::

Both Burton and Depp tell almost identical stories about how the Wonka characterization came about, inspired by, according to Depp, “guys like Captain Kangaroo and Mr. Greenjeans and local guys like Uncle Al, and how odd it was the way they spoke, this bizarre musical rhythm and cadence to their speech pattern — ‘Good morning children …’

“I tested it on Lily-Rose to see if I was going in the right direction with the sound of this voice. A lot of times what happens is you come up with these ideas and you never get to try them until a read-through. So with Lily-Rose, I was talking to her one day. Many times we’ve played Barbies where she says, ‘Daddy, don’t use that voice.’ And what happened was we were playing and I started to use the Wonka voice, and she kind of lit up a little bit, like, ‘Where’s that coming from?’ And I thought, ‘Awright, I think I’m on the right track here.’ ”
