Although Pirates of the Caribbean- On Stranger Tides will not premiere in theaters until May 20th , much of the public have been able to view the film already at the many screenings held in major cities. Veering off the path of past POTC films that were held in strict privacy, this film has been shown all over the US during the past month for fans to view for free.
The many doubts and questions that have followed the new venture in the POTC series have loomed over the project since it was announced. A new director, almost totally new cast and many key crew members missing, have prompted Disney to open the previews up to be judged ahead of the premiere date. It is not known for sure what Disney’s reasoning or hope is in this new move, but many fans agree, it may hurt them in the long run.
The new film is full of extended action scenes and a much more simple script. The film returns to the original first Pirates,.edited much tighter and trying to move at a faster more narrow pace. Another big chance is that this time the whole project depends largely on Johnny to carry the humor, action and drama alone without his usual returning supporting cast. With only Rush and McNally to bring about the old “feel” of the franchise, Depp is left largely on his own to pull the audience in and keep them interested in the story.
Whether this risky move will help or hurt the film is yet to be seen, but the one thing we can be sure of is that Pirate and Depp fans will enjoy seeing Johnny in his most comfortable role, even if the rest is not up to the hype that the Disney empire advertises it to be.

I, for one, am very excited to see this film. I missed Captain Jack and it doesn’t bother me that Will and Elizabeth are not there. I am looking foward to new adventures and I don’t care about all the little things to be picked on.

the reason that some others said that the last 2 pirates was boring , was just because of will and elizabet’s part. because I can not see anything boring about captain jack in 2 & 3. infact I loved 2 & 3 more than 1 because jack was soooo better and funnier. and his character changed in those to funnier level. a lot of people say they don t like 2 & 3 and don t say the reason. the reason was that will & elizabet parts were more than it should be. and boring scenes was for them. not humer. and jack was apeared less than he should be to made us laugh . now that they gone , we can have jack more. so why is this bad that they gone? I just love captain jack and don t listen to critics. and will watch it with joy because critics always just want to ruin our enjoyment. and find little little bad things. I hate the critics

I’ll miss the old crew but Jack is there na!!As pirates are taking on new adventures,we should enjoy it.There is always a victory ahead of risks according to me, don’t know about others.

I was one of the lucky few who was on the guest list to watch the special screening of the movie, but the location was too far and it was my parent’s anniversary. My father surprised me by getting the tickets to see the movie in IMAX 3D, so I am excited for that. As far as what I’ve seen in all those videos and clips of Pirates 4, I believe it to be another grand adventure waiting to start. I love all of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and don’t see how the last two were so awful, according to some people. I sort of agree with you, mina, about Will and Elizabeth. They did take away the “fun” in the movie with their “emotional” scenes and Captain Jack did have less screen time because of that, but now that their story has been told, he is free to wonder the screens of theaters all over the world. Now, we can focus more on him and less on everyone else. Pirates 1 was supposed to be about how Elizabeth had always wanted to meet a pirate…Jack was that pirate. The story was Jack’s and Elizabeth’s, but being Disney, there’s now way they’ll make a movie where the heroine and hero, who have a big age gap, fall in love…especially when they’re a pirate and aristocrat, so Will Turner was made. Plus, that isn’t in Jack’s nature…at least he makes it seem that way. Anyway, Pirates 2 & 3 should’ve had more of Jack because he is basically the protaganist and static character, where there is no character development. This is why Johnny wanted to make Pirates 4 as a “We’re sorry for every making the last two very cryptic, here is another one so you can understand it better and it is better.”
I just can’t wait to watch this film! I already have the LEGO game as well and is soon getting the soundtrack this Tuesday! What an exciting week this has been!
