The Professor

Filmography by Martina

The movie is also known as “Richard Says Goodbye”.

Plot

Richard Brown, an English professor at a New England college, is in his doctor’s office when he is informed that he has advanced stage 4 lung cancer that has spread throughout his body and is terminal. The doctor estimates his life expectancy to be six months without therapy, but this could be extended to 12-18 months with cancer treatment. Richard is devastated by the news and walks through town and into a pond while fully clothed.

When Richard arrives home for dinner, he decides to break the bad news to his wife, Veronica, and only child, Olivia, but his daughter reveals that she is a homosexual. Richard is relieved because he had feared the worst, while Veronica dismisses her daughter as going through a phase, prompting Olivia to storm out. Veronica confronts Richard about her affair with Henry Wright, the dean of the college where he works. He accuses her of lacking taste. Richard does not deliver the news; when Veronica asks what he was about to say, he responds that he was concerned that he had overcooked the steak.

The next day, Richard begins weeding out kids who he believes are not sincerely committed to English and reading. He offers everyone a C if they leave the class because it is of no interest to them. He advises that they each read a book and then provide a lesson on why it is important.

Sea of Dawn: Adventurer’s Game

Filmography by Martina

A “micro movie” advertisement trailer of 4 minutes for the Adventure Game developed by Beijing Jianyou Technology, Sea Dawn, inviting players to embrace adventure.

Crew

Johnny Depp as Phillip Artoosh
Francisco J. Rodriguez as Anselm Rodríguez

Shooting Place

Santo Domingo, Dominikanische Republik

Plot

Johnny Depp is a weird, wizened, fez-wearing shopkeeper in the promotional launch trailer for “Sea of Dawn,” the new massively multiplayer online game from Chinese gaming company Changyou.

In the four-and-a-half-minute cinematic trailer, the actor — best known for his turn as Captain Jack Sparrow in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films — plays Phillip the Shopkeeper, affecting a seafaring lilt. His character confronts a hapless bill collector (Francisco Rodriguez), whom he regales with yarns about bygone adventuring days on the ocean blue… all to distract his visitor from the task at hand.

“I’ve had me adventures,” Depp’s shopkeeper says before slyly ushering the bill collector out the door with the parting words, “I see your journey awaits you out there, on the tides. You be brave. Be bold. And eat a proper breakfast in the morning!”

The short film was released to promote the launch of Changyou’s “Sea of Dawn” multiplayer role-playing game. Set in the 16th century amid the Age of Exploration, the nautical-themed game uses Epic Games’ Unreal Engine to digitally replicate uncharted coastlines and other landscapes, as players take on rival vessels, trade with other merchants,
