Johnny has signed to team up with Gore Verbinski
for the animated film Rango distributed by Paramount
the film is scheduled to be in theaters in March
2011. Variety reports Depp will be the voice for
the lead character, a household pet to find its
true self. The film will feature a script from
John Logan. Nickelodeon Films will play a role in
the production of the film as well. Depp is scheduled
to start his work on Rango in January.
Verbinski stated “That Rango animation techniques
will allow us to capture and translate every aspect
of Johnny’s performance, using it to drive the
computer-generated character in a way that has
yet to be seen in an animated feature.”
