Johnny Depp will be awarded the Gold Medal of Merit of the Republic of Serbia for his contributions to the country’s continued efforts to enhance and expand its local community of artists, the Iervolino Studios animation company said on Friday.
The Belgrade-based company said that Depp would receive the medal on Serbian Statehood Day, on 15 February.
A press release recalled that Depp was in Belgrade in October 2021 to promote the animated series PUFFINS IMPOSSIBLE, developed in Serbia and created by Iervolino Studios (IES) and produced by Archangel Digital Studios (ADS).
“Johnny Depp’s leading role and active participation in the promotion of PUFFINS IMPOSSIBLE helped leverage Serbia’s artistic strengths among the global filmmaking industry,” it said.

It was a way for the serbian president to promote his political party ahead of the elections in april. Depp, you definitely didn’t help Serbian people by helping that dictator winning the elections. 😞
I am sorry to hear that and thanks so much for sharing your critical view onto the situation, because I have to confess, I’m not familiar with the politicians in Serbia – our views are too much on Ukraine right now. I think, celebrity/entertainment and politics should not mix anyway.
But, aside the president and his Medal and staying in the limelight decorated with Johnny, don’t you think, it helped the Serbian film and artist world to gain more attention in the international film world?
