I must say, I don’t think I would’ve ever met Johnny Depp w/out the help of my neighbor Matt. So Matt, if you read this, ever, you are the best!!! OK, now on to the good stuff. Here’s my story……
I work at the San Diego Zoo on my spare time on weekends. I’m an educator, and I basically educate the public. Anyways, I had come home from a long day at work. I was tired and just about ready to crash on the couch, when my neighbor, Matt, knocked on the door. Matt is a film maker, and he works for Sony Pictures. Well, he told me he was going to film the Golden Globe Awards, and had asked me if I wanted to go. OF COURSE I SAID YES!!! And then came the best part…he told me Johnny Depp was gonna be there!!!AAAHHHH!!!!! I was so excited. I have been a Johnny fan since I can remember. I used to watch “21 Jump Street” in my crib! And he told me that he guarenteed himself that I was gonna meet him!!! YAY!!!! Well after all of the excitement, I checked my calendar and realized I had 2 weeks to get a dress and be prepared. I needed to get started! A while later I had a dress and I was ready to make like a Tom and Cruise. lolz! Or in this case, maybe I’ll make it like a pirate and sail. Back to the point!! About 2 weeks later, the day had arrived……
It was January 25, at 4:30 in the afternoon in my town, San Diego, boarding a plane to fly to L.A. . Now see, San Diego is only about a 2 hr. drive to L.A., but we flew because it was free, on a private jet, and it was faster. We got there in about 15 mins. When I got off the jet, we went straight to the Four Seasons Hotel to change into our free hotel room. My dress was a black halter w/a glittery white strip down the middle and on the sides. So for about an hour and a half I sat in a salon chair waiting in anticipation for Matt to come and tell me that he’s ready to leave! FINALLY, THE TIME HAD COME!!!! I WAS GOING TO MEET JOHNNY DEPP!!!
I got in the limo and the driver took off. I was so nervous about what I was going to say to him. Thoughts and questions kept going through my mind the drive there. Without realizing it, the driver had stopped, and told me that this was it. And it was it, I was at the Golden Globes. I got out of the car and saw tons of fans and celebrities, and the only one I concentrated on finding was Johnny, so I was on my search. I went inside the building and saw a bunch of tables w/name tags. So I was reading them: Jack Nicholsen……Matt LeBlanc….Nicole Kidman…….Jennifer Lopez…..Johnny Depp……JOHNNY DEPP?! I had found his name tag right next to his girlfriend’s, Vanessa Paradis. I was so happy to find his seat, and for the record, I sat in it for 5 seconds! LOLZ! It was great. Just then, Matt came in and told me to come with him because all the stars would be entering any moment now, and we had to go into the filming booth, where the camera crew is. So sadly I had to leave the seat, but the fun was just beginning……
About half and hour later everyone was in there seats w/drinks in hand all chatting w/each other. Then the best part of the evening, I SAW JOHNNY AND VANESSA ENTER THE ROOM!!! OMG, he was the most georgous site I have ever seen. And so was Vanessa! Matt saw the look in my eye, and told me to go up to him and say hi. I was so nervous, so he went with me. Matt introduced himself and told Johnny and Vanessa he would be taping tonight. Johnny thanked him, and then looked at me and smiled (omg that smile!!) He said, “Well hello, dear. I’m Johnny. And you must be…” I paused and said, “I’m Alyssa, and it really is a pleasure to meet you.” I went on and told him how much I love POTC and all of his other films, and I told him about how my mom and I used to watch “21 Jump Street” when I was a baby. Vanessa smiled and said,”Oh, Johnny, isn’t that sweet?” Johnny nodded in approval and said,” I find that very flattering. Thank you, sweetheart. I’m glad you enjoy my work so much.” I was very happy that he loved my compliments. Johnny, Vanessa, and I talked for like 30 mins, and I told him about myself and school and my job. He thought of it very interesting that I have a job at the San Diego Zoo at the age of 16. He is really funny and sweet. I just adore him more than ever before!!! Just then Matt told me I had to disappear because taping was just about to begin. Johnny said,”See you at the after party. Don’t worry, we’ll talk more.” And boy was he right!!!!!!
When the show was over, and Matt put away the equipment, we got back into the limo and headed to the after party. We were one of the first people there, and it was so awesome. Johnny and Vanessa were a little late when they arrived because he was signing autographs outside. HOW SWEET! When he came in I had this look of depression on my face because he didn’t win anything. I went up to him, and I gave him a hug and said,”No matter what, you have always been the best actor to me.” He laughed a little bit and shrugged. He said,”Really? I thought I was the worst.” We laughed (oh and let me tell you, when I hugged him, he smelled soooo good). We sat down and chatted for hours. We talked about Lily and Jack. He showed me some pictures he carries around in his wallet (jack is gonna be so hot when he grows up and Lily is gonna be so beautiful). I told Johnny that, and he said not too cuz now he’s scared of the future.LOLZ. Vanessa and I talked about shopping. hahahha! As time went on I did some impressions, and Johnny and Vanessa were laughing so hard, Johnny was crying and Vanessa almost spilled her drink. OMG WAS IT FUNNY! I did Marilyn Monroe, Bill Clinton, Alex Trebek, Barbara Streisand, Oprah, Madonna, Arnold Swarchineggar, The Godfather, Rocky……….the list goes on. They thought I was hysterical! I’m so glad I had a good impression on them. Well, time passed and it was getting late. Then came the worst part, I had to leave. I was so sad because it was like we had become friends. I told him I was sad and he said,” Don’t worry Alyssa. We will see each other again. I promise. Remember now, I do have Matt’s number.” I hugged Vanessa, and she said,”Oh Johnny, I just love her. Can we keep her?” We were laughing and I thought, yeah where are those darn adoption papers?! Hahahahaha! Well my last hug of the night was from Johnny, and not only did I get a hug, but I got a kiss on the cheek! YAY!!! And also, before I left, Matt took some pictures!!! YAY AGAIN!!! I left that night with the best smile on my face, and I will never ever forget it.-
