Pirates of the Caribbean 6 Still a Possibility

Pirates of the Caribbean 6 isn’t dead in the water just yet, according to producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

The future of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is in doubt after the fifth movie Salazar’s Revenge, AKA Dead Men Tell No Tales, relatively underperformed at the box office with a global haul to date of $792 million.

That marks the lowest bounty of the series since the first movie, but Bruckheimer doesn’t think of it as a failure.

“I think it did phenomenal,” he told Yahoo Movies. “I mean, you’re talking about the fifth [film] in the series in a down market, and the American dollar is so strong that we’re getting less returns from foreign [markets].

Pirates 5 Crosses $500 Million at Global Box Office

Strong international numbers, especially in China, have powered Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” past the $500 million at the global box office.

The fifth installment in the franchise opened at No. 1 at the domestic box office during what was the slowest Memorial Day Weekend in nearly two decades. In two weekends domestically, the movie has earned $114.6 million. That leaves the remaining $386.6 million to overseas earnings to reach its current worldwide sum, $501.2 million.

In China alone “Pirates 5” has made $142.6 million. Russia is the movie’s second highest grossing overseas territory with $30.5 million. Korea is in third with $17.9 million, while the U.K. and France round out the top five with $16.7 million and $15.2 million respectively.

New Pirates of the Caribbean 5 Trailer

A new Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales promo has been revealed and in it Orlando Bloom resurfaces as his William Turner. Fans last saw him at the end of the third movie where he was forced to become the captain of the Flying Dutchman after his heart was cut out and placed in the Dead Man’s Chest.

The rest of the trailer features Johnny as Captain Jack Sparrow, as well as Javier Bardem’s Captain Salazar looking to exterminate as many pirates as he possibly can. No wonder the new tagline reads, “All pirates must die.” A previous trailer explained why Salazar is out for revenge.

Johnny Pantsless in New Pirates of the Caribbean 5 Trailer

A new trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales dropped exclusively on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Thursday, and it’s clear that Johnny’s Jack Sparrow is in trouble. Starring Depp, Orlando Bloom, Javier Bardem and many more, the latest installment in the popular Walt Disney Studios franchise will feature many thrills for fans old and new. In the latest trailer, Jack is running from Captain Salazar (Bardem) while searching for the infamous trident of Poseidon. The fifth installment’s trailer also features Jack getting into his usual hijinks, including getting jailed while wearing no pants and drinking while being chased.

“You will pay for what you did to me,” Salazar says ominously in the trailer.

Dead Men Tell No Tales will be the fifth and final installment in the Pirates franchise. In April 2015 producer Jerry Bruckheimer shared the first image of Depp back in costume. “Captain Jack is back and we’re not letting him go,” Bruckheimer captioned the picture. In the debut snapshot, Depp donned his signature costume, long hair and a scraggly beard and mustache. Depp’s character appeared a little worried as he was tied up to the mast of a pirate ship with henchmen around him.

POTC 5: Extended Look

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales first made an appearance last October with a spooky teaser that featured Javier Bardem’s grotesque villain — but no Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp). Well Capt. Jack is officially back, making a messy entrance at the tail end of a new trailer that just premiered during the Super Bowl. The fifth installment of the Pirates series will premiere on May 26.

“The dead have taken command of the sea. They’re searching for a Sparrow.” So says a spectral woman who explains what the ghostly Captain Salazar (Bardem) and his putrid crew are after as they maraud the high seas, searching for a powerful trinket called the Trident of Poseidon — and apparently, Depp’s dippy hero, the erstwhile captain of the Black Pearl. We catch glimpses of familiar faces like Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) and a grizzled Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) before finally seeing Sparrow himself caked in grime and hoisting a bottle.

It’s all set to the tune of Johnny Cash’s “Ain’t No Grave,” a curious song choice, coming so soon after Cash’s cover of “Hurt” was used so memorably in the first trailer for the X-Men movie Logan.

New Pirates of the Caribbean 5 Synopsis Reveals Jack Sparrow’s Fate

Spoiler alert!Disney has released the synopsis of Pirates Of The Caribbean 5 revealing the fate of Captain Jack Sparrow. Disney’s popular franchise will return after five years with the fifth installment to narrate another exhilarating tale of Johnny Depp’s iconic character as he gears up to wage a battle with the ghostly Captain Salazer.

Bardem’s character will wreck havoc on the ill fated Captain Jack after he escapes from the Devil’s Triangle. The only hope for Jack is to find the legendary Trident of Poseidon, which seems an impossible task considering Jack’s current miserable condition.

The lord of the sea, who was once sailing on the legendary Black Pearl, is now helming a small, dilapidated ship named the Dying Gull. It appears he needs major support from his uneasy allies including Carina Smyth and Henry. It is still unclear whether Captain Hector Barbossa will play a friend or a foe to the crushed Jack.

The synopsis reads: “The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazer (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea — notably Jack.
