On October 29, 2024, a devastating flood affected the Centre Instructiu i Musical (CIM) of Massanassa, leading to substantial damages to the organization. In response, Johnny has made a generous donation of 65,000 euros to assist in their recovery efforts.
According to Jesús Mateo, the president of CIM, the donation has been in discussion since the previous summer but was confirmed recently by the philanthropic organization that represents Johnny. This financial support will be used to adapt a newly acquired lower-level space as a new social center for the musical society, as the previous location was completely destroyed in the disaster. Mateo expressed that this assistance is crucial, considering the organization lost everything, including important files, instruments, and their headquarters.
While Mateo could not specify why Johnny chose to support CIM specifically, he mentioned that an intermediary played a key role in facilitating the communication between them. The organization intends to reach out to Johnny to express their gratitude for his thoughtful gesture.
In the wake of the flood, shortly after the disaster struck, Johnny visited Spain and publicly expressed his support for those affected. He highlighted the resilience and strength of the Spanish people during a visit to the European Film Festival in Seville, where he was promoting his directorial project.
During his visit, Johnny emphasized his connection with the country, stating it was both an honor and a privilege to be there amidst a situation of such adversity. He recognized the severity of the disaster, offering solidarity with the affected community, reinforcing the idea that their hearts are with the people of Spain, and expressed hope to help in any possible way.
