Johnny Depp surprises his Dad, John Depp Sr. with a video congratulating him on the Florida Chapter APWA Lifetime Achievement Award in Tampa April 5th, 2012 with these words:
“Hi, good afternoon
Pop this is for you
It’s me, Johnny, your son
I wanted to take this moment to congratulate you and salute you upon receiving this very prestigious award and for the recognition of your dedication to your work and to the people and the way you have conducted yourself over the years with a grace and a dignity and integrity and a fairness to all people whether low on the totem pole or upper echelon, you have been respectful to everyone I have ever seen you come into contact with and you have been, well, an amazing Pop, certainly and you have been an amazing inspiration to me especially in that regard
You have also been a great inspiration in the fact that you have really giant biceps, your arms really are huge and I was always sort of plagued by that as a child, people were afraid of your arms, they were afraid of your physique and I always wondered why I never had those kind of giant arms like you had Anyway on another subject, back to the situation at hand, I am very proud of you for receiving this long overdue lifetime achievement award. I am extremely proud to call you dad and I am extremely proud to be your son and as far as other accolades in your life, the one you received a long, long time ago – and we have known each other a very long time, since birth I suppose – not your birth, mine, – is that you won the lifetime achievement award from those of us who love you and worship you and respect you, a long, long time ago – and your arms are really big, they really are I mean they are really impressive ; anyone who is sitting around my Pop, just go and have a feel, go have a squeeze of his biceps, it’s unbelieveable it truly is he’ll be alright with it, just go ahead, just have a squeeze and then give him a shake of the hand , give him a hug from me, alright. I miss you Pop and I am so proud and so happy for you, I love you, you take care, speak soon congratulations.”
