September 7 2012
Pack car and pick-up our son from work and drove an hour and a half to the city of Toronto.
Check-in 3:15 pm
Get settled and arranged our sleeping(who would sleep where) and stuff
3:30 pm entered subway rode to King St. to pick-up tickets and the program book.
Walk to TIFF building approx 15-20 mins. Stood in line another 25-30 mins (I’m still standing!)
Pick-up tickets and bag of goodies. Then I buy a TIFF mug.
We head out to the subway this time from St.Andrews Station (instead of King St)to Dundas. 5 mins approx. above ground again we get our son his supper and walk back (10 mins approx ) to the Hotel.
I’m tired and hungry my feet are sore my back aches in fact everything aches! hehe!
Roughly at 6:00 pm Brian and I are able to sit down and have dinner in the hotel resturant. After went to the gift shop where I bought a necklace.
7:30-7:45 approx (these time a very rough)
Get ready for bed…so tired. buy 9:00 lights are out. Sleep or should I say a kind of rest..the city is very noisy at night (where we were) till 2:30-3:00 am but didn’t sleep till 4:30-5:00 am.
September 8 2012
Wake at 6:45 am. Have biscuit and a small amount of cereal. Shower and dress.
Brian and I are on our way to Ryerson Theatre by 8:20 am and walk for about ten mins get to the theatre.
We find the “prime spots” taken and move further down only to see a huge deep puddle..do we risk it and walk across or should I say through it? I take a deep breath and in goes my running shoes one foot at a time carefully it seemed till water got into one of my shoes (soggy foot yuck!) It poured rain the person who had a good spot left so we took it.
Brian and I find a spot right in front behind the guard rail. I park myself on my stool for the duration. We met a mother and daughter from Whitby..cool! and chat away. Time 9:00 am. Four and a half hours to go!
More people come and go. By this time the rain lets up around 11:15 am umbrellas down and folded. This happened 4 times after that before it stopped all together around 11:45 pm. Me the driest of the wettest of the four of us! hehe!
12:15 am I stand and Brian folds my stool awkward! I’m in front with Brian.
Sky starts to clear but is still cloudy and cold. I’m freezing in my jeans and jacket! My drawing is dry though.
The red carpet is down and gets moved 3x’s and fixed before the edges are typed down.
12:30-12:45 pm everything and everyone is in place and ready.
My drawing and marker ready!
We chat some more with our new friends.
Then its 2:00 pm No Johnny…
2:15 pm cars roll up to the curb friends and supporters walk down the carpet to the theater….no Johnny or Damien.
2:25 pm approx.
A security guard of Johnny’s walks down and through to the tent and back again.
Screams from further up the line erupt and traffic is stopped police everywhere and a crowd is across from the theatre forms.
Johnny and company are in sight having their pictures taken and interviews done.
Jerry walks down and eyes our umbrellas. He and I lock eyes and communicate with our eyes that I’m innocent that things are good and he seems satisfied as if to say “okay I’ll trust you don’t let me down. This took seconds.
Damien and his wife the director and Natalie leave for the theatre.
Johnny literally runs over to his fans and starts signing…the girl I met and myself get excited and she starts shaking then as Johnny gets closer my heart rate goes up wondering if its going to pop out of my chest!
I take a breathe and try and slow down my heart rate…it evens off…good.
Before I know it Johnny is right in front of me he pauses to find a place to sign my drawing moves onto the next person we look each other in the eyes and I feel a little guilty for a second because I’m thinking of the importance of the event and disappointed only for a second because it is over.. we looked at each other for a few seconds and the sweetheart that he is says..
“Wow good drawing!”..I say thank-you! then he shakes Brian’s hand and I smile he says “okay” and moves on…then Johnny waves good bye…but not before he signs one more piece of paper.
Johnny has left now and I’m like in a dream mode…the girl and myself hug and shriek a little.
Show each other where he signed out suff and then dispersed only to see each other again in the theatre one row in front of us!
Here is a YouTube video I found of the Red Carpet. It was taken by someone behind me. Johnny is signing my drawing at 6:31.
Can’t say to much about the movie other than its an intense and personal look at the men who have been falsely accused… is worth seeing…it opens here in Canada December 25th 2012 worth seeing and please help in whatever way you can.
Thank-you Brian for taking and putting up with me letting my dream come true!!! ( I know you had fun too!)
Thank-you so much Johnny for signing my drawing! and God Bless!
