Walt Disney Studios reveal live action films at 2013 D23 Expo

The Disney version of Sondheim’s Into the Woods, directed by Rob Marshall (Chicago), is to be based at Shepperton and begins shooting in the UK in September.
The feature will star Meryl Streep as the witch, with Johnny Depp as the big bad wolf (Depp starred in Tim Burton’s 2007 film adaptation of Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd). Other cast members include Emily Blunt, Jake Gyllenhaal and Chris Pine.
The Disney version is set for a Christmas Day 2014 release

As with all Christopher Nolan projects, there is a veil of secrecy surrounding ‘Transcendence,’ the upcoming sci-fi film starring Johnny Depp. Produced by Nolan and directed by Wally Pfister (Director of Photography on the ‘Dark Knight’ films), ‘Transcendence’ was designed to be a complex sci-fi film, not unlike ‘Inception,’ but to date, we haven’t had much (if any) official confirmations on the film’s plot.

Johnny Depp seems to live in the characters our childhood memories are made of. He not only brought a Disney theme ride to life (as Captain Jack Sparrow, in “Pirates of the Caribbean”); he also embodied the Mad Hatter of “Alice in Wonderland,” and Willie Wonka.
But his latest role may be the most familiar character he’s ever taken on. He plays Tonto in Disney’s “The Lone Ranger,” out this week.
“How tough a role was it to play compared to everything else you’ve done?” Cowan asked.
“Hopefully, whatever you’re approaching has some kind of, you know, tightrope element, you know?” Depp replied.
“You like it when it’s a bit dangerous?”
“I think if you don’t feel that, if you don’t feel some kind of — not fear necessarily, but, you know, the possibility of just falling flat on your face, I think you must challenge that,” Depp said.

When the band looked back on that history, they found an old country gem in “Devil’s Train” and set to work on an adaptation.

Downtown Albuquerque is transforming into downtown Berkeley for a few days as part of an upcoming Johnny Depp film, shooting in Albuquerque this week.
A bike store, yogurt shop, clothing store and other shops seemed to spring up overnight on Gold Street.
The awnings of local shops are made to look like Berkeley shops for a few days.
