Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald Back to Hogwarts Featurette

A new featurette for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald takes the Potterheads back to Hogwarts, school of witchcraft and wizardry.

Unforunately, the featurette does not contain any new scenes of Johnny as Gellert Grindelwald but I wanted to share the video anyways since I know that many of you are excited about the movie itself.

“I felt quite sentimental going back to Hogwarts,” author and Fantastic Beasts screenwriter J.K. Rowling admits in the featurette.

“Those names, the stories, the histories that sit in the back of our minds from the Potter series begin to weave their way into Beasts,” Fantastic Beasts star Eddie Redmayne muses in the featurette for the second film in the Harry Potter prequel series.

But of course, this Hogwarts is not the one we grew to love over eight Harry Potter movies, with Fantastic Beasts taking place 70 years earlier. This is Hogwarts in the 1920s, and… it doesn’t look all too different. Other than the clothes by the teaching staff, the bright-eyed students in their Hogwarts robes all look oh-so familiar.

Hogwarts will probably be the one comforting feature of The Crimes of Grindelwald, which escalates the war that the titular dark wizard (Johnny Depp) is waging against the wizarding community. The second Fantastic Beasts film is set to be darker and more grim than the last — but at least Hogwarts remains untouched, for now.

1. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (November 16)
2. Bohemian Rhapsody (November 2)
3. Venom (October 5)
4. Ralph Breaks the Internet (November 21)
5. A Star is Born (October 5)

Fantastic Beasts also tops the list of Most Anticipated Fall Family Films.

Johnny Makes Surprise Visit as Grindelwald at Comic-Con

Yesterday, July 21, Johnny made a surprise appearance at 2018 San Diego Comic-Con during the Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald portion of Warner Bros.’ panel in character as the evil wizard Grindelwald. For the majority of the presentation for the highly-anticipated wizarding world sequel, Johnny Depp wasn’t on stage and most in the crowd assumed that he simply was too busy to turn up at the event. However, toward the end of the showcase, he walked out on stage in full Grindelwald gear and delivered a speech in character.

The speech help by Johnn focuses on the “good of humanity.” It was a classic villain’s point of view monologue, ultimately about how a lot of people are going to suffer for what he perceives to be the greater good. Johnny wasn’t revealed until the very end of the first movie, but that set him up to be a major part of Fantastic Beasts 2 and, in all likelihood, a fixture of future movies in the planned-five movie franchise. Warner Bros. also revealed a brand new trailer for the movie during the SDCC panel which you can watch below.

A few photos taken of Johnny during his speech have been added to the photo gallery. Enjoy!

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald New Comic-Con Trailer

Here it is, Potterheads! The announced official second trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald has been revealed at Comic-Con in San Diego, California this morning, July 21.

The trailer features some new scenes of Johnny as Grindelwald which we haven’t seen before. No more words needed. Watch it and enjoy!

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald Comic-Con Poster Teases New Trailer

Draw your wands, Potterheads. The newest Comic-Con poster for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald teases teases a Comic-Con trailer that should arrive this morning during Warner Bros. Pictures’ Hall H panel. Fans who are waiting to get more sneak peeks at the movie only need a little more patience until that trailer goes live.

The poster released for Comic-Con shows Newt and his friends front and center, surrounded by magical symbols. Trailer-Track reports that a new full-length trailer for the movie was rated by the UK’s BBFC, which makes it almost sure that a new trailer will debut during the studio’s Hall H presentation at SDCC on Saturday, July 21.

Many fans wondered a lot about the first trailer for Fantastic Beasts 2 because it didn’t feature much of Johnny’s character Grindelwald. Being that the movie is about hunting him and his followers down, that seemed a little weird. Some speculated that Warner Bros. is downplaying Johnny’s role in the movie after domestic abuse allegations arose against him. Many speculated that the film has less to do with the character than initially thought. Then there are those who believe it’s because Grindelwald won’t become relevant to the franchise until later movies (there are plans for five in total).

Some fans also think it’s odd that Jude Law recently admitted that he has no scenes with Johnny in the new film. The Harry Potter books hinted that the two men once had a close relationship when younger, potentially a romantic one. Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling also admitted that she always saw Dumbledore as gay. However, it seems that the movies plan on shying away from that, at least for now. For fans, the wait for a new trailer still feels like forever. After that, though, the wait for the movie will feel even longer. But winter will arrive before they know it, and with it comes the answers to at least some of these questions they have about Grindelwald, Dumbledore, and Newt and his fantastic creatures.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald Stills

There must have been something wrong with the transferring of two movie stills of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald which I thought I had uploaded a while ago. I reckoned they weren’t even in the gallery albums.

I reuploaded them to the image archive. Enjoy!

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald Still

New images have just been released from Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and I don’t know why I missed them. One of the movie stills even features Johnny as Gellert Grindelwald. Better late than never, but I finally uploaded the still to the photo gallery.

Johnny reprises his role of Gellert Grindelwald in the sequel and is seen standing in the street alongside Rosier (Poppy Corby-Tuech) in the just-released photos.

The sequel to 2016’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will hit theaters on Nov. 16, 2018.

2017 Magazine Scans

Before I’m wishing everyone of you the best of everything for 2018, I wanted to let you know that I added magazine scans of three issues from earlier that year that featured either Johnny or one of his latest movie projects. The Entertainment Weekly and one of the Total Film issues feature some information on Murder on the Orient Express, while the Total Film Winter 2018 scans talk about the Fantastic Beasts sequel, featuring Johnny as Gellert Grindelwald.
The scans were taken by myself, so please do not take them without asking and crediting. Thank you!

This being said, I wish everyone a happy new year! See you next year!
